I have 4 sticks of RGB Vengeance Pro and they can be pretty bright, and yes I dimmed them. I love the colors but I wish they would turn off when the system went to sleep.

I have since turned on "software control" so they will do that. But it consumes a measurable amount of CPU power to do so when my computer is running.

My thought was if there was an enhancement where the hardware and software worked together. IE Software sends a keep-alive to the memory and the lighting continues as long as a refresh keep-alive is sent to them.

That way the cpu can ping every 30 seconds or so and when the computer goes to sleep with no more keep-alives sent to it, then they'll go to sleep as a result.

I'm sure it's more complex than that; but to me it doesn't sound to terrible of a system to implement and it wouldn't impact CPU in a measurable way.

there has been an update to the Vengeance RGB firmware a couple of months back i believe. Dropped CPU usage in software mode a LOT, like barely measurable.

Look on iCue if you have the latest version? if not, upgrade.

Mine are running firmware 1.02.64
