Hello, I want to overclock my AMD Athlon XP 2600+ BARTON.

Current settings:

Front Side Bus Frequency 170.0 MHz

CPU Clock Speed 1955.3 MHz

Bus Speed 340.0 MHz

Right now my TwinX1024-3200LL XMS3205 v3.1 is set @

Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6

RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3

Row Precharge (tRP): 2

CAS Latency: 2

DRAM Frequency 170.0 MHz

What is a good vcore setting? when should I raise the voltage?

TIA

Raise it when you start getting unstable like reboots or lockups or failure in posting, however, booting to windows or POSTing at a certain speed is not a sign of stability at all, you need to torture your machine with programs like prime 95 in torture mode for about 24hrs before you can be sure, so you might need to add more voltage and better cooling if your present cooling can't cope. I'd tend not to got over 1.75 to 1.775v when air cooling Bartons and thats with good cooling. Also remember that even though you might have the best cooling in the world, the higher the vcore you put the more the life of the cpu is degraded as electromigration is speeded up a bit, also realize that your top core temperature limit drops as you increase the voltage, so a cpu might be able to handle 85C @ 1.65v before permanent damage happens but this limit might drop to 75C @ 1.725v, this is not based on any particular calculation and is just an example.
