Skid
Are there any problems using a module CMX512-3200C2PRO with a Win98SE/WinME system? My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8S648FX. Thanks Skid
Wired
Windows can't tell what type of memory you have, so no. What CPU / FSB are you running with that board?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 1, 2005 And how many modules do you have installed and please tell me the bios settings you have set as well.
Skid
Windows can't tell what type of memory you have, so no. What CPU / FSB are you running with that board? Thank you for the answer. My CPU is an Intel P4 1.80A Northwood, FSB400. Skid
Wired
If the FSB of your CPU is 400 For Intel and 100 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports only DDR 266. If the FSB of your CPU is 533 For Intel and 133/166 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 266/333 If the FSB of your CPU is 800 MHz for Intel and 200 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 333/400You'll have to underclock the memory from DDR400 to DDR266. Skid
And how many modules do you have installed and please tell me the bios settings you have set as well. I currently have two modules XXXXXXX 256Mb DDR333 Bios settings are: Dram clock: 333 MHz Cas latency: 2,5T Dram RAS Active time: 6T Dram RAS Precharge time: 3T Dram RAS to CAS delay: 3T While CPU clock is 100MHz (1.8Ghz 100x18) I'd like to replace them with a module Corsair CMX512-3200C2PRO You'll have to underclock the memory from DDR400 to DDR266. I didn't know that! The two modules that I'm using now are correctly recognized as DDR333 and bios Dram clock setting is 333MHz (400MHz is also available in manual settings). Does it mean that my bios values are not true? :(:
Wired
The memory is just not being run in sync, that's all.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 14, 2005 And most of the MB's like this have removed the locks and limits in the bios so they can be easily over clocked. So you just need to set some of the settings manually.
Skid
So those FSB/frequency rules were only for MB's that can only run memory in sync, right? Does it mean that CMX512-3200C2PRO could work at 400Mhz on my system (with right manual settings)? Or will it work anyway as a DDR266? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 18, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 18, 2005 Well you are welcome to try any setting you like, but the few SIS MB's we have tesed have not performed as well as Intel based chipsets.
