gundamz2001
I just built my computer with CMX512-XL (x2) and DFI nF4 Ultra-D motherboard and was trying to install windows. Blue screen popped up at random times. I looked through the forums and change the BIOS values that I can find. But that still doesn't solve the problem. Any other suggesion please? Thank you very much!
gundamz2001
Originally I have 2 rams installed in bank 2 and 4 (that's what the manual said). Now I installed the ram back to bank 1 and 2 and the blue screen doesn't pop up as much and let me finish the windows installation process. however, by installing the ram to bank 1 and 2, the BIOS has warning saying that I'm only using single channel (333 MHZ) and if I want to get double channel (400 MHZ) back, I'll need to change those back to bank 2 and 4 which gave me blue screens. Wired
Slot 1 is the slot farthest away from the CPU socket. I see where it says that they recommend placing memory into slots 2 and 4, however it isn't on their chart, which is odd. I'm going to post over @ DFI's forum about that. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8668
gundamz2001
I don't know if it would help .. but I just try putting the ram in slot 1 & 3 and everything seems to work now .. at startup . it's showing I'm using 400 MHz dual channel (1T [don't know what it is]). Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 1, 2005 Please put the modules on either slots 1&3 or 2&4; make sure you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB (download the Beta version if possible), load optimized defaults settings and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX512 or Twinx1024-3200XL Genie BIOS/DRAM Configuration DRAM Frequency Set: 2:1 or 400MHz or 200 (if option are 133/166/200) Command per Clock: Enabled SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T And leave the rest at AUTO setting Genie BIOS FSB BUS Frequency: 200 LDT/FSB Frequency ratio: 5X LDT Bus Transfer Width: 16 16 CPU/FSB Frequency ratio: Auto PCI Ex: 100 K8 cool N’ quiet: Disable CPU VID Start Up Value: 1.55 CPU VID Control: 1.55 CPU VID Special Control: Auto Chipset Voltage Control: 1.6 DRAM Voltage Control: 2.8 All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
