themask128
Hello, I am sending this in request to a corsair CMX512-3200LLPT PC3200 Memory Module. I believe that this module is bad. My motherboard Asus A7N8X is giving me error codes that are leading to memory. With the memory module in question, no matter which ram slot it is in, the system refuses to post in any way. Instead, I get error beep codes pertaining to memory. With a completely different memory module, and not changing anything else the system boots and operates normally. Thanks! Wired
What is the other module that works? What are its specs? With that CPU, you have to run the memory @ 333 Mhz.
themask128
the other module, is actually a corsair value select dual channel 512mb kit. The motherboard correctly detects both modules in the same banks as the XMS module was in and not recognized. As for the speed of the XMS module, I was running it at 333Mhz as the motherboad automatically sets the memory to be the same speed as the Frontside bus unless otherwise set. The momory was also set to optimal timings in the bios.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 30, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 30, 2005 I would not suggest mixing memory as that may compound this type of problem. Can you reset the bios with just this module installed and see if the system will post and let you set the following settings manually. CPU Freq: 166 MHz System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T Then please test the module with http://www.memtest.org. If it still fails then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
themask128
Thank you for the advice. The problem seems to be remedied, after clearing the cmos settings. Thanks!
