delta7
Hi, I seem to have a bad memory module. I bought a 512Mb TWINX pair of CMX512-3200C2PT modules XMS32002v5.1 ,Lot number 0503014-4 for use in a Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI motherboard with an Athlon 64 3500+. I am using Windows XP SP2. After working correctly for a few months, yesterday my pc crashed. I had not amended any BIOS settings or changed any configuration issues prior to the crash. After trying to switch on the pc, the bios gave continuous long beeps which the motherboard manual says is a DRAM error. The memory was being used in DDR mode with modules in DIMM 1 and DIMM 2 slots. I tested the RAM in all combinations and found that 1 module works correctly in any DIMM slot but the other module caused the bios to beep in all slots. I am using the latest F6 bios with the following bios settings: HT Frequency Auto HT Width (down) 16 16 (up) Max Memclock Auto DDR Timing Auto Enable 2T Timing Auto CPU Frequency 200 HT-Link Voltage Control Normal DDR Voltage Control Normal * * I have changed the DDR Voltage Control to +0.2v but that had no affect on the faulty module. In the memory configuration BIOS pages the following settings are greyed out (default settings?) : CAS Latency 3 Row Cycle time 12 Row Refresh Cycle time 14 RAS to CAS delay 2 Min RAS Active time 8 Row Recharge Time 3 Write Recovery Time 3 Write to Read Delay 2 Read to Write Delay 4 Refresh Period 2x3120 Thanks Karl
