Bad memory

I purchased a second stick of CMX512-3200LLPT for my home built rig from ZipZoomFly.com . I've been having many errors and lock-ups, understand that I never had a blue screen in the last 15 months until I put this stick in. Anyway I ran memtest and this stick failed repeatedly. I also ran memtest on my older stick and it wouldn't fail after a couple of hours of repeat testing. Anyway I also used Microsofts Window memory tester. (http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp) funny thing, it would only show errors when both sticks were in and not individually, tried testing several different slot arrangements, weird huh? Anyway i need an RMA please. My rig is an Asus A7N8X 2.0 deluxe, latest bios updated. AMD Barton 3200 proc., ATI AIW 9800 pro 128mb. on board sound, nvidia. 512 ram, same as above (w/o defect) 430 watt Antec Power supply. WD 160 Gb hard drive and Maxtor 40Gb. NEC DVD-rw 3520, Lite-on 52x burner. No gaming controllers attached. Keyboard and mouse for me please. And Broadband internet. Windows XP SP2, all updates done. Also latest drivers on video card, not sure of chipset, driver on mobo. Anything else?

Please set the following settings with the modules in slots 1-2 and test the system with http://www.memtest.org.

CPU Freq: 200 MHz

System Performance: User Define

Memory Frequency: 100%

Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts

Resulting Frequency: 200MHz

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

If you get errors with the suspect module then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them!

But I would suggest you get them both replaced.
