Trouble with TWINX3200LL modules

Hello all,

I have an ASUS P4P800 Motherboard, running BIOS version 1018. I have a pair of the Corsair TwinX CMX512-3200LL (512MB) modules, Version 1.2, Lot 0340037. I have experimented with different BIOS settings, including those suggested in this thread to no avail. My current settings are:

DRAM Clock: 200 MHz

DRAM Timing (overrides SPD values): Manual

System Performance: Normal

SDRAM Bank cycle time (or tRAS): 6

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2

SDRAM RAS-to-CAS Delay (tRCD): 3

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2

Command Rate: 1T

I have tried testing both modules (using memtest86), in both single and dual mode to no avail (hundreds of errors on the first pass). I then decided to try running each module by itself. The first module received no errors at all. I then swapped out the modules, putting the second one into the same slot the first one was in before. I got hundreds of errors once again. No BIOS settings were changed between the testing of the first and second modules.

I have had problems with the memory before, around a year and a half ago, when I first put together my PC. The memory has been working fine since I had it replaced, however I started noticing trouble a few weeks ago, and thought it might be a registry error, and I thus decided to reformat my hard drive. After a lot of trouble installing Windows, I decided to take one of the modules out, and see if it was any better that way. It was. I then tried putting the second module back in, only to receive errors with installations and programs crashing. That's when I decided to try memtest86.

I am doubtful that if would be a BIOS error, since the modules were tested on the exact same settings, however, if someone can reccommend another version of the BIOS, I would be willing to try it.

If I was to try to exchange the module under the warranty, would I have to send in both modules (thus leaving my computer without ram), or would sending in the bad one suffice?

Also, I was wondering if there is any way for me to receive a refund on the modules, as I am getting rather fed up with the problems.

Sincerely,

Alexander Nokhrin
