Ecthelion
i have been having some trouble with large files getting corrupted (like when i tried to install World of Warcraft from DVD, and when trying to patch it, it would always corrupt) so i did a bunch of test and eventually ran a memtest on my Corsair XMS3200 512MB stick and got some errors (an picture of the memtest is attached). The Part Number is CMX512-3200XLPT the Version Number is XMS3208v1.1 and the Lot number is 0427066-2. So can i get a RMA for this? Ecthelion P.S. System Config: Athlon 64 3200+ Geforce 6800 GT 3 sticks of Corsair CMX512-3200XLPT RAM MSI MS-7030 (K8N Neo Series) Motherboard 2 SATA Western Digital 10kRPM 74GB in RAID 0 Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS P.P.S. in case this relevant, i did run another stick of the same kind of RAM in the slot i tested the bad RAM with, and it did not report any errors, so it is definately the stick of RAM and not the slot
Wired
Was it tested by itself? Is the slot known to be good? Are they all revision 1.1? Tried 333 Mhz instead of 400 Mhz? Can't read the manual ATM (no Adobe Acrobat Reader at work), but the board may not support 3 sticks @ 400 mhz. K8N Neo Platinum Manual

K8N Neo Platinum Manual yes it was tested by itself, and see my P.P.S above, they are all the same kind of RAM, so yes, all are rev. 1.1, have not tried 333Mhz, looking at the manual now... Ecthelion
The manual says that you can have 3 Single Sided sticks in at 400, but if there are 3 Double Sided Sticks then it needs to be at 333, but i don't think this has anything to do with my memory being bad, since i tested it with only 1 stick in at a time. Correct. Just keep in mind they are double sided for later.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 28, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 28, 2005 All of our XMS 512 Meg modules and larger would be double sided, and if you install more than 2 512 Meg modules you would need to run them at DDR333. In addition, please set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org.

Also, do you want me to run the memtest again after i set it to 2.8 volts?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 29, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 29, 2005 Dim Voltage = DDR Voltage or Memory Voltage, and yes please set it to 2.8 Volts and test the system with http://www.memtest.org.

Set it to 2.8 Volts, and did the memtest again, on all three sticks, and the one that i think is bad came up with errors again, and i tested that bad one in all three slots (it had errors each time). The other two sticks had no problems through test #3 (i stopped it at this point), and i only tested those two in the first slot.

Ecthelion
Hey, just wanted to let you know that i got my new RAM today, which is awesome, but what is suprising is that they also sent a TWINX1024-3200XLPRO pack with it also, so i now have 2 free 512MB sticks, the only problem is that my motherboard only has 3 places for RAM in it, so i don't rightly know what to do with them. Might just have to get a new motherboard...we shall see. Anyway, thanks a bunch! Ecthelion P.S. if you were wondering why it took so long, i just send the bad RAM to get RMA'd last Wednesday (the 13th), so...yeah
Ecthelion
umm...ok i just look at the packing slip, and the TWINX1024-3200XLPRO was not supposed to be sent to me, there is some other name on the Master Packing List that came with it....so....what should i do?
