imagenesis
Hey, sorry if this in the wrong section. Anyhow, I have this RAM: TWINX1024-3200C2PT It's rated at 2-3-3-6 timings and I can set it to that in BIOS no problem. However, when set it to 2-3-3-6 in BIOS CPU-Z registers it at 2-3-3-8 which is weird. Also, I once set the timings to 2-2-2-5 but it wouldnt boot. I had to flash the CMOS and put the memory in the other slots, I have since put it back in the orginal ones. Anyhow, thanks for your support. Hope to get a professional opinion. Also, do you think I did something wrong when I tried running at 2-2-2-5? I just set to 2-2-2-5 at 1T... Is it worth another try to run it that speed, since apparently AMD 64's love fast timings. Here are my sytem specs: Asus Sli-Deluxe A8n Corsair XMS 2x512mb PC3200 Evga e6800 gt PCI-E at 350/1000 Amd 3500+ Winchester at 2.2 GHZ Btw, not that it probably makes a diifirence, I am using the newest version of CPU-Z. And I would like to save updating the BIOS or RMAing the Ram as the last steps I take. I've heard that one shouldnt update BIOS as it can cause more problems than it fixes, although I have done it on several occasions on other computers. Wired
If you want 2-2-2-5 timings you need to get 3200XLs. The 3200C2s are rated @ 2.5-3-3-6 on AMD systems. 2-3-3-6 is for Intel systems. If you have a 90 nm CPU core it's definitely worth updating your BIOS.
imagenesis
Hmm, thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'm going to do that. It's weird though, I assummed that if it couldnt at run 2-3-3-6 it just wouldnt POST or boot...I guess I'll update and see what happens. Also, I met setting 2-2-2-5 as an overclock, is it generally capable of running at that speed. I won't you hold you responsibleif it burns out or anything ;) Great service! Thanks. On a diffirent note, I think I might return this memory and get some higher grade stuff to overclock this beast. I want to reach 80k+ on AM3...Do you happen to know which of the corsair models have garunteed Winbond chips? I may get the OCZ Rev 2 (I heard these baby's overclock to 260+MHz although your memory is quite impressive too) Thanks again!
Wired
Guaranteed? 3500C2s, although windbonds have been used in various revisions of the 3200C2s and 3200LLs. 3200XLs and 4400C25s use TCCDs. Keep in mind Windbond stopped IC production well over a year ago.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 29, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 29, 2005 Please put the memory modules on either slots 1&2 or 3&4 and make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB; load optimized/set up default, and set the following BIOS settings; TwinX512 or TwinX1024-3200C2 Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T 2T Command Rate: Disabled Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7 Volts All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let's make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
