schutz
Hi At christmas time i bought a new pc, amd 64 3500, 6800 ultra, a av8 deluxe motherboard and VS1GBKIT400 PC3200 2x512MB CAS2.5, it was running fine until early februrary when i started to get errors downloading files and installing games, i didnt know what was up with it so i just ignored it and it went away, but its been back for a few weeks and now i cant install hardly any games or download any files without getting a corrupt error, when playing games i also get alot of crashes then a error stating memory, and i ran a mem test and i had tens of thousands of errors within 5 mins, from that its obvious its causing my problems and ive double checked with many others that its definitely my rams fault, im on winxp pro with everything up to date, i want to get a repair but i cant wait long, ive got another stick of 512 somewhere but im not sure if it will fit. Thanks
Wired
Test one stick at a time in each slot using memtest (memtest.org). What timings / voltage is your memory currently set to? Try these settings: CAS Latency: 2.5 RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 Row Precharge (tRP): 3 Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8 Memory voltage: 2.7x or 2.8 volts
schutz
Hi, i think its only 1 stick that could be damaged as sometimes i only get 512mb being recognised and it works fine, but then others it says 1gb, i will try what you just said and give you the results EDIT Hi the settings you told me CAS Latency: 2.5 RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 Row Precharge (tRP): 3 Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8 Memory voltage: 2.7x or 2.8 volts they were all standard, except voltage which was 2.65, i upped it to 2.7 and i get the siren noise saying something is wrong, same with 2.8 then i lowered to to 2.55 and usually when i try to install a cd game, like rome total war it gives me error corrupt, fatal error but this time it asked for cd 2 then i got my hopes up and the next message was, file missing internal error. what should i do know, ive done memtest and i had a HUGE amount of errors, and i know its not the games as i tried them on a friends computer
