XMS 512mb DDR PC3200

Problems start usually when I am gaming. After a little while I get the Memory Referenced ######## error message and everything crashes. I updated all my drivers and the BIOS and still same thing happens.

Next step was to download the memtest app, version 1.51. Ran that and up until 43% complete it was fine, then at 43% 535 errors cropped up. I let the test play out and by the end of the test I had 3309 errors.

Mobo - Asus P4C800 Deluxe (800fsb)

CPU - P4 3000 (800fsb)

GFX - Asus 5600FX (v9560)

Soundcard - Terratec Aureon Space 7.1

Ideas?

That error can be caused by driver and or service pack.

Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Right it is CMX512-3200C2

VERSION 2.2

LOT 0321088

CPU and FSB are as mentioned in my first post 3000mhz running at 800fsb. The BIOS settings are all default for this mobo and the default is it probes the memory and works it out. No performance enhancement.

Have used different Windows services pack and multiple drivers and BIOS versions. and I keep getting memory references error messages

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the following settings manually.

AI over clock Tuner: Manual

DDR Frequency: 200 MHz/DDR400

DDR Reference Voltage 2.75 Volts

Performance Mode: Auto

Performance Acceleration Mode: Auto

Legacy USB: Disabled

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

Then please test the suspect module with http://www.memtest.org, but with this MB or any ASUS P4 MB you may need to disable legacy USB when running any memory test.

Yes I have the latest BIOS and yes the setup defaults have been loaded.

As for the other options. I can find a few of them, but the rest, you are either thinking of a different mobo or I am blind. I can find these:

AI over clock Tuner: Manual

Performance Mode: Auto

Performance Acceleration Mode: Auto

Legacy USB: Disabled

and some of those are a little bit of guess work. The rest...I got no idea. Your suggestions are to change to 2T or 3T when I look at the BIOS it says 8Clocks 4Clocks, etc. This makes me think you are thinking of the wrong mobo.

I would show you a screenshot if I could.

Ok done as suggested and changed the above although I still cannot find anywhere these settings:

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

Like previously mentioned it says 8Clocks 4Clocks, etc. Not 2T or 3T and the names are not the same either.

Also ignoring those settings and doing just the settings I can find means my machine won't boot into Windows. Instead I get a BSOD with Fatel Error non paged area.

 Please call our tech support (888-222-4346 # 2) when you are in front of your system and we can talk you through the settings. But you would match the setting by the acronym (TRCD, TRP, or TRAS) and did you set the Dim Voltage?

Ok I did as you instructed and managed to match everything up. What you call T they call Clocks. Its a lot easy to match everything up if you print out the thread with all the info

Anyway...made the changes....ran the memtest and now instead of 3309 errors, I get 33,417 errors. I get the first 7000 odd at 39 to 43% on test 5, then a further 14000 on test 6 then I just lost count.

I have also had to switch all the settings back to setup defaults as with the settings you gave my PC wouldn't boot.

What next?
