lostlitttleboy
I've recently bought a MSI 875PNeo mobo, which came with 2x512 Platium TwinX modules (XMS3700). The MSI 875PNeo can take up to 4GB, but the question is, can I mix my old 2x512 Platinum modules (XMS 3000) in with the modules that came with the new mobo? Would I want to if I could? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 18, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 18, 2005 No you would get better performance with just the 2 XMS3700 modules installed. And if you do want to add to what you have now, you should match the part# and revision for best performance.
leeghoofd
Normally I can work but you must set the timings to the slowest mem, I really don't think the extra 1 gig of ram will be noticeable (maybe some gain in loading time of games) but you will have to decrease the overal speed. What cpu are you running ? If you are running an 800mhz Fsb Intel CPU it might be better to set it up with the DDR400 ram then to mix it with the 333Mhz ram and to run it assynchronously and loose speed and bandwith Damn that ramguy dude is fast :) He beat me to it :)
