kid smoke
Can you tell me what you have the FSB jumper set to and please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? the 3200+ is a 400 mhz fsb chip, the board supports 400mhz fsb. the ram is 400 mhz fsb. No settings were touched, it is a brand new system. I bought it because I did not think to check the ram, afterall, its corsair... It is set to 200 mhz, (ddr of course) no jumpers touched. Optimal settings, no overclocking ever done.
kid smoke
/taps foot I want to get this out so I can get it back. I am Comptia A+ certified, and would not waste my time or yours, unless i was sure i needed to send this ram back. Please get me an RMA ID# so I can have some WORKING kick-*** Corasiar. I spent a pretty penny on this ram, and i'd like to excersise the lifetime guarantee.... hopefully I'll never have to go through this again. you'd think Corsair would have live people you could talk to to get this stuff squared away. I am a business owner and a system builder. I buy everything from new egg, usually use Corsair, and have never had a problem. Until now. Please, I need to get to the Fed ex store to send this out... Thank you.....
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 17, 2005 Our phone # is listed in a few places, and you are welcome to call us 510-657-8747 or 888-222-4346. And here is the reason I have asked you about these settings. A7N8X-E post I have had 4 MB's of this model and had issues with several models of memory. And for the record I have absolutly no problem replacing your modules, please follow the link in my signature and submit the RMA. But from what I have seen with this MB that may not solve the problem for you. Please go to http://www.asusforums.org under the AMD section and you will see a sticky about this MB. But you should set the FSB Jumper to pins 2-3 and then clear the bios and when you start the system go to bios and load setup defaults and set the following timings with the modules in slots 2-3. CPU Freq: 200 MHz System performance: User Defined Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts Resulting Frequency: 200MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T Then test the system with http://www.memtest.org, if you get errors, please test the modules one at a time. There have been a few users report that setting Spread Spectrum to Disabled also solved the issue.
kid smoke
The link in the forums to the problems with the ram & mobo combo is down. I set everything the way you said to... and it passed memtest. sorry to sound so a**holeish. I have been stressing over this comp for 3 months, and could finally afford a new mobo, proc, and power supply. Any ideas why it crashed and failed in an asus a7m266-d with one athlon mp 2000+ and an Antec 425 watt PS? It only ran at 266, and had problems getting it to work. Again, my deepest apologies... Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 18, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 18, 2005 No worries mate, that’s what I am here for. And running DDR400 modules at a slower speed will sometimes cause the MB to miss read the timings and may run them too aggressive, would be the most likely cause. Any please let me know if you have any trouble, as I said I have no problem replacing them at any time.
