ajt00
This is my 4th RMA on these CMX512-3200XLPT memory. Each set, individually and paired, fail the memory test miserably. I have used the memtest86 v1.51 and Microsofts Memory Diagnostic tools. Memtest shows over 86 errors in the first 2 mins. I have tried maually setting the P5P800 MB with numerous combinations, but letting the MB set AUTO nets less errors. I am not overclocking anything, never have. I purchased a set of GEIL PC3200 , higher latency and inexpensive, while waiting for one of my RMA's and they work flawlessly using both memory diagnostic tools. Not sure what to do at this point. This is a gaming PC, when I install the Corsair memory, games lock up, PC locks up and the BSOD is random but often. When using the GEIL memory, everything works perfectly. What to do now? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 17, 2005 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
ajt00
Asus P5P800 P4 3.2Ghz FSB 800Mhz DRAM timing Auto Memory Acceleration Auto DRAM Idle Timer Auto DRAM Refresh Rate Auto MPS version 1.1 AI overclock Tuner Standard AI Booster Support Disabled Standard indicates no overclocking of anything. Everythign is auto detect. This configuration works flawlessly with the GEIL memory. The corsair memory detects less errors this way also. Thanks for your help :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 17, 2005 First thing, your other modules may not have a minimum voltage requirement and our XMS3200XL module should be set to a mimimum of 2.75 Volts. In addition, all of our XMS modules are tested on a MB at their rated speed before they leave our factory, so if you got more than one set of modules that were displaying the same problem, that would suggest that there was some other issue. So please set te Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts and with this chipset I would set the timings as listed bellow. with one set only. SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T And please load setup defaults before you make the chnages and then test with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. ajt00
I will try those settings, but I am not sure how to change the voltage, there is not a BIOS setting for that. I dont see how to do that anywherer in the manual either. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 17, 2005 AI overclock Tuner Manual AI Booster Support Disabled Then you will see the dim voltage listed bellow SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T And how many total modules are you tring to run in your system?
