Hangman_007
I posted this here before but I never got it resolved, I have two sticks of Corsair CMX512-3200C2 XMS3202v5.1 0452088-0 400MHz CL2 I am running them on an Albatron KX600 Pro motherboard, I am having system crashes when gaming. I downloaded the memtester recommended by this forum and have run extensive tests..here's the issues: I have tested each stick by themselves on every slot on the board, when tested independently I get absolutely no errors from either stick, however when tested together I get anywhere from 25,000 - 45,000 errors...I've run the tests relocating the sticks from each and every slot on the board as well with no results. The sticks are running at 1.65 volts. from what I can gather doing the tests, there is some kind of issue between these two sticks (Which I know is not that uncommon even though they are the same brand and model) What I need to know is how do I resolve this? and what other information do you need from me to help me resolve this? At $100 a pop for each of these, I expect them to perform flawlessly together and I'm not getting that.

Hangman_007
yeah thats what I thought too, tried all voltage settings, up to 1.8, no change at all..same results...next :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 17, 2005 Can you tell me the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
Hangman_007
OK, here's what I got for info.. The CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton 333FSB in the BIOS it's showing detected speed at 2171 CPU Clock Ratio = 13 [Range 5 -24] Spread Spectrum = (+/- 0.5%) [Range .25 - .75] CPU Host Freq. = 166 [248 Max] CPU:AGP:PCI Clock = 5:2:1 [Range 6:2:1] DDR:CPU Ratio = By Speed [Range 1.6, 2.0, 2.40] CPU Voltage = 1.65 [Range 2.1 - 1.2 in .25 increments] AGP Voltage = 1.5 [1.8 max] DDR Voltage = 2.65 [2.8 Max] as far as performance setttings I haven't messed with a whole lot, just tried to make it run right at first which I've been able to do..is there something specific you're reffering to? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 18, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 18, 2005 With a 333FSB CPU you will need to set the memory frequency at DDR333 so it's in sync with your CPU. Or it will cause a bottelneck in the chipset and may generate errors that are not the fault of the memory. The CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton 333FSB in the BIOS it's showing detected speed at 2171 CPU Clock Ratio = 13 [Range 5 -24] Spread Spectrum = (+/- 0.5%) [Range .25 - .75] CPU Host Freq. = 166 [248 Max] CPU:AGP:PCI Clock = 5:2:1 [Range 6:2:1] DDR:CPU Ratio = 1-1/ 100% CPU Voltage = 1.65 [Range 2.1 - 1.2 in .25 increments] AGP Voltage = 1.5 [1.8 max] DDR Voltage = 2.75 Please try these settings and then test the system with http://www.memtest.org
Hangman_007
ok, tried it, didn't work, actually got worse...(btw I've been using memtest86 for this whole operation) when I slowed down the memory to 333, and up the voltage, memtest had an "Unexpected Interrupt" during test 2-14 Type: Gen_Prot PC: 00003c1c CS: 00000010 Ef flag: 00010046 Code: 00004d40 now, this could be because I' did some research on the motherboard and they said there was an issue sometimes trying to run 400fsb memory on this board, they had a bios flash that supposedly adressed that so I installed it this morning while awaiting your response, ran memtest again with no luck, got the same errors, about 35,000+ of them. So what I'm going to do is reflash the bios to its original state and try your suggestions again.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 18, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 18, 2005 Do you have another system you can test the module in? That might help isolate the memory from your system. Maybe a friend can help you!
Hangman_007
FYI, did some more testing and with only one module installed the system still crashes...remember each module tested fine by themselves, so thats leading me to think it's not a memory problem but more of a board problem..going to work on that a bit...thanks for your help.
