bad ram

Recommended Posts

I think my chip is bad, I have tried running it by itself and in various configurations with other chips that work fine and my system becomes completely unstable or will not boot at all. Its a cmx256a-2700c2 chip. I have been using it for about a year with no problems when my system began crashing in random, unrecreatable patterns.

Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and and revision of your modules and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

the part # is cmx256a-2700c2 v3.1 It was plugged into an msi kt3 ultra aru with a 133mhz fsb. cpu is an athlon xp 1900. cas latency was 2.5 with default settings (auto everything). the bios is amibios v3.31a. The RAM worked fine for about a year. after that the system became completely unstable or would not boot when the ram was used in any configuration with other chips or by itself.
