bentvalve
I bought a 1gb kit of Corsair Value Select from Newegg, its running @ stock speed and timings. I got 3 errors in 11 passes yesterday in Memtest. Is the ram bad? Should I RMA it?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 16, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 16, 2005 Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 16, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 16, 2005 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org, and if you find you just have a failing module then lets get it replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
bentvalve
Well upping the voltage took care of it. I guess what I want to know now is this. Is this just a cheap fix for less then up to par ram? Ive had a gig of this ram before and it ram just fine @ 2.6 (actually my bios reports 2.65 even though the setting is 2.6 ...now its reporting 2.75) I mean , I dont mind having the voltage upped but if I can have a pair of the same ram that runs @ 2.6 then id probably rather have those. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 17, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 17, 2005 I would suggest 2.75 Volts for most MB's. The memory controller also shares the same power source and upping the voltage a little bit will often times solve these types of issues. In addition, all of our DDR1 modules are rated up to 2.9 Volts so you should be fine.
