Hallawrance
Mother board ASUS p4c800E Deluxe Processor P4 2.8c bios settings default except promise controller has been turned off Computer refuses to boot with new twin 1024 XMS3200 400 hz cl2 XMS3202v5 1 0503095-0 Computer message is something like CPU failure - overclocking. All bios settings are default with memory configuration set by SPD. No overclocking - ever I was replacing 512MB with the same memory but bought twins to take advantage of DDR. I planned to retire the previous memory. The computer will boot with the operable new stick in slot 1 and the older stick in slot 2. Using the new memory in slots 1 and 3 as per the manual prevents posting. Interchanging the problem stick with the others that work prevents posting. I can not find a way to get one stick to work, Currently operating with the older stick and one new one. Computer recognizes 1024 MB. The memory was received a few days ago from NewEgg. The twins have never operated together successfully. Hal Lawrance hlawrance@adelphia.net
leeghoofd
Waht bios is your Asus mobo on mate ?, also my Asus mobo detects my corsair ram wrongly I have to set them manually ( wrong detection of voltage and Cas latency) Put one dimm in the Blue slot, boot the pc, set up the ram you have to set the AI OC tuner to manual gain access to the settings. I would suggest to start with Cas latency 2.5-3-3-6 and see what happens. Then run memtest to see if one of the new dimms is faulty , it could well be that one of the dimms is defect. I am a bit troubled by your story, cannot understand exactly one time you tell one dimm works , the other time you tell they don't work at all. DDR to 400 lock AGP /PCI freq to 66.66/33.33 DDR reference voltage to 2.75 then Configure DRAM timing by SPD to disabled DRAM Cas latency 2.5 DRAM Ras 3 DRAM ras to cas delay 3 DRAm precharge delay 6 then memtest it mate and see what works and if it gives errors yes or no I would also update the bios to 1018 version , I use that one , haven't tried the 1019 version yet as I have no probs at all with 1018 one. I hope it works and gives some good solid mem performance
Hallawrance
I am using version 19 and have for some time. No need for confusion. I bought twins and one is ok but the computer will not post if I install the second one. It may well be the SPD. I'll ry your suggestion. Thanks for helping. I did all that you asked except to use memtest. I don't have it yet and I can't test the problem memory anyway since the computer will not start. It still gives a verbal failure about over clocking. The other two modules work fine, alone or in combination. The other half of the twin won't post no matter where I put it. I tried it alone in slot one but it di not work. I am currently operating with a new module in slot one (blue) and the old one in slot 3 (blue). The system reports 1024MB with 648 MB free and I guess that I have DDR operation. Hallawrance
Let's try replacing your modules. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! I tried but the system won't process my request. I used post #179844 shown on the upper right side - not the left side as instructed. All fields were filled in but the message that I have is that the form was not processed for lack of a referer. There is no reference to this object on the form. I have no idea what is meant. Maybe I should try a fax. It is harder to refuse. I will help you get your RMA # and I would like to know or understand what the problem is with our On-Line form so I can get it repaired. Thank you. I'll try to call on Thursday. I've tried the form many times and get the same message. I tried all of the numbers - none work. The only other reference to referer that I have ever seen was in my Kerio firewall. Maybe the firewall is preventing the message . Very long shot but I'll turn it off and try it. Hal OK - I turned off the firewall and the message went through. First good idea that I've had in a long time
