Dominator Airflow Platinum LED incompatible with ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega

The legs of the Dominator Airflow Platinum LED fan don't seem to connect to the RAM slots because the RAM slots only have one side with locking tabs - the tabs on the other side don't move.

 

Is there any way to mod this to fit? The RAM is rated for 3200 MHz, is it safe to run at this speed without a cooler?

Yes, the RAM will be fine at 3200MHz without the cooler.
