sakkoonce
I have two sticks of DDR 500 XMS PRO SERIES RAM modules with the lights on them. Recently my motherboard from ABIT died and I sent it back to them for an RMA. I tried placing my Corsair RAM into my dell replacement computer that belongs to my wife. It has an intel 875 chipset. The RAM simply would not work. I wasn't worried since I would be using it in a different motherboard and hoped that it was only a compatability issue. I have just recieved my RMA from ABIT and tried to use the corsair modules, only to be disappointed. I also have two 512 sticks of DDR 500 from PNY that work wonderfully. I tried removing all the modules and using the Corsair only and the bios would not even show. I tried all 4 modules and the same thing, no bios, but after I remove the corsair and use only the PNY RAM I had no problem getting the bios and installing my OS. I would appreciate some help in attaining an RMA as I am an enthusiast and would love to be able to use the RAM I paid so much for. I don't see that I can use a memory tester as that my system will not boot with the memory installed, please note that this memory worked fine before the motherboard quit working. Here are all the numbers on the modules: CMX512-4000PRO xms4000v3.1 0450118-2 XMS4000 512MB 500MHz 3.4.4.8 Thank you, Kevin
Wired
TWINX1024-4000PRO or just 2 CMX512-4000PRO sticks? Were the PNY and Corsair sticks tested in the same slots?
sakkoonce
i have 2 sticks of the 512 and I used the corsair and pny in the same slots. The PNY works, but the corsair does not. Actually to point out the memory is rated at 500 MHz, but as soon as I recieved the memory I tried to use it at speeds above 400 MHz and it would never go above 400 at stable speeds where as I can achieve over 500MHz with the PNY. Maybe they were faulty from the beginning. I would appreciate some insight on my problems, thanks, Kevin In case anyone wants to know my total system specs 3.4 Pentium 4 (prescott) ABIT IC7-G motherboard 1024 MB PNY DDR 500 1024 MB CORSAIR DDR 500 (RMA PLEASE) PIONEER DVR108 16X DVD+/-RW 74 GB RAPTOR HARD DRIVE 36 GB RAPTOR HARD DRIVE WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL AUDIGY 2 ZS PNY 6800 GT 256MB (overclocked to 400/1100)
sakkoonce
I would really appreciate it if I could get a response about my problem so that I may RMA my faulty RAM modules, thanks Kevin
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 14, 2005 Actually that is not uncommon with OEM systems, as they often times do not include all of the options you would need to run over clocked modules. I would suggest testing them in another system (NON-OEM) and you cannot mix memory with MB's today or they will not post.
sakkoonce
I have tried using only the corsair sticks in the computer and in each slot and they will not work in any slot, I just need to RMA please, thanks, Kevin
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 14, 2005 Kevin, that Dell system will not post with these modules. Dell or any OEM system will need to have modules built to JEDEC spec and be the correct speed grade for the system in question. I would wait till you get your ABIT MB back to test the modules, or see if a friend can maybe help you.
sakkoonce
I'm sorry, I must have given bad information earlier. I have the ABIT motherboard, brand new, and tried the memory in all the slots with no post at all. The PNY works fine with the motherboard. I don't know of anything I can do with the memory if the computer will not post using the CORSAIR MEMORY IN THE ABIT motherboard. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 14, 2005 Can you tell me the CPU speed, and did you try to reset the bios with one module at a time? If you have and still have the same problem, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! sakkoonce
I have a 3.4 pentium 4 prescott core, tried reseting the bios and no luck on getting the modules to post. Completed an RMA request. Thanks, Kevin
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 15, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 15, 2005 Please let me know when you get the new modules.
sakkoonce
I will certainly do that, do you know of any reason that the modules would not run at 500MHz on my abit IC7-G motherboard? Thanks, Kevin
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 15, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 15, 2005 Yes, if you are using a 3.4 CPU it may not over clock that high.
sakkoonce
I just recieved my RMA, but to my surprise it seems that one of the modules is different than what I sent to corsair. I sent a set of 512 MB XMS PRO SERIES DDR 500 3.4.4.8. What i recieved was one 3.4.4.8 and one 4.4.4.12. Why did I recieve one module with slower timings? HOw can I send this back and why should I be responsible for the postage if I do? Please give me some answeres. Thanks, Kevin
Wired
The only 4.4.4.12 they make is DDR2. The sticks look the same? What is the part # and revision # of the stick? How To Read the Memory Label
sakkoonce
they look exactly the same and both actually work fine in my system so maybe it is a misprint.
Wired
Does it say 4-4-4-12 on the stick itself? If so, what is the part # and revision of the stick? How To Read the Memory Label
