PreludePowerR
Been having problems for the past second weeks, especially in games. Mainly the games are crashing at random times and rebooting the machine. Also installing large games like UT2004 and world of warcraft the installation would abort saying some random file is corrupt, yet I have installed on those discs on another machine and no problems I borrowed a friends 1gb dual channel kit, ValueRam in fact same specs etc, and I have not experienced one crash or error. Also UT2004 and WoW installed perfectly with no error messages. So this seems like an obvious problem with my ram and would like a replacement
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 10, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 10, 2005 I would test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org if you do find one failing then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! PreludePowerR
I would test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org if you do find one failing then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! I did not use that one because I dont have a floppy drive to boot up with. However I did use PassMark BurnIn Test v4.0 Pro. I turned all all other tests and put 100% duty cycle on the ram alone and ran a memory test on each of the ram chips in question. Im confident that I have located the faulty ram chip as it errored in the very first cycle of tests. While the other ram chip in the dual channel DDR kit ran fine through the 15 minute test. Would this be sufficient enough?
Wired
memtest can be burned onto a CD as well. There's an ISO image on their site.
