KnightLord
Guys... :(: :(: PLEASE HELP !!! :(: :(: I had 2 CMX512-2700C2PT modules installed on my ABIT IT7-MAX2 Motherboard (1Gb of RAM). A couple months ago I decided to buy another one, believing the best solution was to keep all modules the same to avoid compatibility issues, so I purchased another CMX512-2700C2PT on Newegg.com. Right after receiving the module, I had a family incident and didn't have time to install the new module for weeks... When I finally tried to install it, no luck... Tried, tried and tried and nothing... I did some tests replacing one of the modules and this new one proved to work fine, but no way to make them 3 work together. Well, I was sure I have 3 working modules, so I decided to do some research... Finally I found the reason WHY it wasn't working. Supposedly, the IT7-MAX2 can go up to 2Gb, AS FAR AS you use ONLY single-bank modules. Long story short. I don't really think Corsair or Newegg.com would reimburse or change my 3 modules for single-bank ones. I used Dr. Hardware and it tells me my installed CMX512-2700C2PT are double-bank. So, it seems the only way I can have more memory is buying new memory modules or at least replacing one of them. Can you recommend me a Corsair module that will work on my Motherboard as the 3rd one (in case it's really the case) OR tell me which modules should I buy to have 1.5Gb or 2.0Gb on this computer? Thanks in advance !

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 11, 2005 First thing, with this chipset you can use 1, 2, or 4 modules but not 3, and all of the modules would need to be exactly matched both in part# and revision. But I would try and set the timings manually to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts and set the memory frequency manually at DDR333 and then set it to single channel mode and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. Ramguy, The IT7-Max2 has only 3 memory slots, not 4... I was reading the manual and they say that you can get to 2Gb only if slots 1 and 2 are using single-bank memory... Any ideas? Thanks in advance ! :o:
