kuyawil
Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I just got the Twinx1024-4000Pro matched pair set and installed them in my Asus P4C800E-Deluxe using a P4 2.8C overclocked 20% to 3.36Ghz. When I check the RAM frequency through Everest Home and CPU-Z, they both show that it's running at 240Mhz. I know these modules can run 250Mhz. The timings I am using are 3-4-4-8 as listed in the spec sheet. Any idea what's going on? Or is there something that I misses? Thanks in advance for your feedback! CandyKid
20% overclock is an additional 40 on the BUS, so that's why they're running 240 at 1:1 with your CPU. If you wanted to run them at 250MHz, then you'd have to either... 1) Run them asynchronously with your CPU's FSB (possibly unstable) 2) Overclock a little bit more so that your FSB is 250 and then memory will run 1:1 with that. Memory only runs as fast as you make it go, so even if it's rated at 250MHz, it won't go there unless you put it there. Your settings are telling it to run at 240MHz. kuyawil
For the past 3 days, I've been running my system at a stable FSB of 235mhz on my P4C800E-Deluxe. My P4 2.8c is OC'd to 3.31Ghz and my RAM timings are at 2.5-3-4-8. I know for these modules, the CAS should be set no lower than 3 but according to Sandra, there were no erros. I even ran MemTest for several hours and didn't get any errors at all. In my previous post, I overclocked my system at 20% with the FSB at 240Mhz. However, even though my system was able to boot into WinXP Pro, Sandra was giving me errors just doing the CPU Arithmetic tests. The strange thing was there were no errors with MemTest at this FSB. I know with the PC4000 Pro, I am underclocking the modules. Would it be a wiser choice to go with the Twinx1024-3200XL Pro instead? With the 3200XL Pro, at least I'm not underclocking. (NOTE: I'm not sure if I have but with the 2.8C, have I hit the limit with this CPU? Just curious....) Thanks in advance for your feedback... Wired
I'd stick with the 4000s, as if you OC more, you know the memory will handle it.

I just went out to buy the 3200xl pros last night and after arriving home, I had this feeling that I'd regret it if I keep them. Looks like I'll be returning the 3200s and continue running the 4000s at my current FSB. If anything, they'll be good for future OC capability in case I decide to upgrade my CPU... :D: Thanks for all your feedback...
