FireElements Posted March 5, 2019 Share Posted March 5, 2019 I just purchased a Hydro H115i for my new build and have it installed and everything in general seems to be working fine. When sitting at my desk I can hear a sound coming from my PC that is worse at some moments than others with no real consistency. I narrowed it down and it seems to be the pump for my h115i unit. I'm not entirely sure if this sound is normal or not and I took a video to demonstrate it. In the video I've turned every single fan off so the only sound is coming from the pump unit. Not sure how to properly describe it other than it's fairly high pitched and almost like a grinding sound. I encounter it on all three modes (Quiet, Standard, and Extreme). Everything has been running for about 48 hours now, and 24 of those hours consecutively. Is the sound normal? If not, is there anything I can do to fix it outside of exchanging the unit? That's the least preferable route since I'd rather not have to deal with uninstalling and re-installing. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
c-attack Posted March 5, 2019 Share Posted March 5, 2019 Is that an H115i Platinum? The sound is of course the pump and I am afraid that is what small high speed pump motor sounds like. There have been some other criticisms of the noise. Also, it is possible there is an air bubble adding to the misery. You can tilting the case a bit, bopping the hoses, or most simply toggling back and forth between the lowest and highest pump speed every 5 seconds or so to see if you can create enough turbulence to push the bubble out. Unfortunately the pump speed range on the Platinum is only 2000-2950, so not as much of differential as the Pro model. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
hellasinc Posted March 6, 2019 Share Posted March 6, 2019 im currently in the process of replacing the same dam cooler for the 4th time . all 3 of mine have had a similar noise but mine sound more like grinding which corsair recon its air bubbles and no matter what I do the noise stays . plus have had issue where the cooler connects and reconnects randomly and ive has issues with the rgb on the fans blinking . not going to lie im very unhappy with my experience with a corsair product Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
