himedc
1 GB TwinX XMS 3200 Abit AV8 mobo AMD Athlon 64 3500 I built a computer for a friend about 4 months ago. Over the past few weeks it has been freezing up on him. He lives 3 hours away, so I had him take it to a computer shop in his area. They ran memtest86 and found errors. They took out one stick and said to send one back. My thinking was that it might not be a problem with the ram, mabey dual channel problems. I had them send the "bad" stick to me. I put it in my computer, ran memtest86, and got 3 errors in about 30 seconds. So it is a bad stick after all. Where do I go from here?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 7, 2005 Please put the memory module on either slots 1&2 or 3&4; make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB, and set the following settings on your BIOS; TwinX512 or TwinX1024-3200 Guru Utility CPU Operating Speed: User Define External Clock: 200/66/33 Memory Clock: 200 or 400MHz DDR SDRAM Voltage: 2.8 Volts AGP VDDQ Voltage: 1.6 Advanced Chipset/DRAM Configuration: DRAM Timing Selectable: User Define DRAM Clock: DDR400 DRAM Command Rate: 1T Cas Latency Time: 3T RAS# to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T Min. RAS# Active Time (tRAS): 8T RAS# Precharge Time (tRP): 3T All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
