Module Problems

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased two sticks of your Corsair DDR 512 3200 CMX memory. It was at this time I also started having random desktop crashes. I installed memtest and here's what I've come up with:

Tested both modules together in banks 1&2 - returned 1 error "Word Pair 44837484 or 44837481"

removed the second module, tested 1 by itself with no errors

took out the first module, replaced with the second and tested it by itself, no errors

put the first module back in bank 3 this time & retested with both modules, returned 1 error, same as above.

now I'm thinking its probably not a module problem but more of a configuration problem but I don't know, I'm no expert..any help would be appreciated

System:

Windows XP Pro

Processor - AMD thoroughbred 2.4 XP

Motherboard - Albatron KT600 Pro

Hard Drive - New (installed recently) Seagate 160gb

Vid Card - Nvidia 256mb 8X 5700VE

any other info needed?

These were not purchased as a twin pack, however they are identical and carry the same numbers:

CMX512-3200C2 XMS3202v5.1

0452088-0

XMS3200 512MB 400MHz CL2

I've tried two diffrent memtesters, the one here and another one with the same results, tested individually they work fine, tested together I get errors

We are not open on the weekends, sorry and it's Monday.

If both modules pass http://www.memtest.org one up then that would suggest a setting or configuration issue. And with these modules and this MB and CPU I would install the modules in slots 1-3 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and the timings should be set to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 manually as well.
