scotty1139
I bought two packs of the 1 GB(512x2) Value Select, VS1GB400C3, intending to use them all in dual channel mode, but it's not working out for me. The most I can get to boot up is two modules in slots A1 and A2. The Asus tech support guy tells me that the memory is indeed compatible with the mobo, and that it should automatically recognize it and work in dual channel. I've tested each module by itself, so I know the memory is good. I've tried placing the two chips in both A1/B1 and A2/B2, none of which work. I was under the impression that if the memory was all the same type/rating, that I would have no problem getting the whole 2GB to work. Please help... what am I missing here? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 4, 2005 You should have the modules in slots 1-3 or A1 and B1 for dual channel!
scotty1139
You should have the modules in slots 1-3 or A1 and B1 for dual channel! As I said above, I have already tried putting 2 chips in A1-B1, and also tried A2-B2. Neither configuration works. Could it be a BIOS setting? My ideal solution would be to have all 4 slots filled for 2GB, with dual channel. If this memory is compatible for that, then why isn't it working? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 4, 2005 Yes should not be a problem, can you test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and lets make sure they are getting set to the same timings. scotty1139
Ok, I ran memtest for all 4 chips individually and they all checked out fine. However, I discovered that slots B1 and B2 are not reading the chips... I'm not sure why that is. Now what?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 5, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 5, 2005 I would suggest you make sure that you have the latest bios as this may be caused form a newer core CPU not detected properly in the bios or there may be a hardware problem with the MB and I would suggest you submit for an RMA on your MB. Also please make sure that all four modules come up at the same timings with http://www.memtest.org when testing them one at a time.
