Kiro-S
Since i built my new system about a month ago it has been plagued by random lock ups and crashes. I suffered similar problems when i built my last system in June last year. The only part which was re-used in my new system from my old system was my 2 sticks of corsair ram. Back then they were caused by me pushing the ram too hard with too aggressive timings. I checked my timings were spot on with what they should be, the crucial difference being this time the memory is running at its rated PC3200 speed as opposed to the PC2700 speed it was running at in my old Athlon XP 2500+ system. Anyway I manually reset the timings to 3-3-3-7 and upped the voltage to 2.7v, however memtest86 is still reporting errors in test 5 accross both sticks in a multitude of places. The ram toture test in prime95 also fails. My current system is: Athlon 64 3500+ [Winchester] Sapphire x850 XT PE DFI Lanparty Ultra-D [Nforce 4] 2 x Corsair CMX512 - 3200CPT [XMS3202v2.2 0319091] Thermalright XP120 OCZ Powerstream 520w My current memory and bios settings are as follows: Timings: 3-3-3-7 RAM Speed: 200mhz Everything else set to auto Voltage: 2.7 FSB: 200mhz X'er: 11 My CPU is running nice and cool and the 3.3v, 5v and 12v rails are all running fine. As this memory has now failed in two systems and the method used to stop the failiure before hasnt helped i was hoping i would be good to go for a RMA. However i'm always open to suggestions :)

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 4, 2005 Please try setting the timings manually to: SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T Then please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. If you do find you have a failing module please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! Kiro-S
Like i already said, my timings are set to 3-3-3-7 (cas, trcd, trp and tras) but i'm more than happy to test the sticks individually. If it turns out i do need to RMA i understand they need to be sent to the states? I dont spose you have a european address, preferably in the UK that they can be sent too. The postage would be quite pricey and the delivery time to get the memory to you, tested and back to me will put my system out of commission for at least 2 weeks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 4, 2005 Please try your reseller if they do not pass memtest.
Kiro-S
Please try your reseller if they do not pass memtest. I left one stick in being tested over night with memtest86 and through 45 passes (roughly 8 hrs 30 mins) it returned 18986 errors at 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 6 and 2.72v. The other stick i tested for roughly 2 hrs 30 mins and the same settings and it returned no errors so im fairly sure i only have one bad stick. I spoke to my reseller and they advised me to return the memory to you. As its only one bad stick im perfectly ok with that. I assume if follow the link in your sig to set this up yeh? As for packaging i have the orignal plastic box the memory came in but what sort of packaging does it need when i send back? Is a jiffy bag ok or will i need some kind of box? Kiro-S
Thanks very much. I've submitted a RMA request and i've been testing my computer non stop atm with Prime 95 and im not getting any errors so im certain its just this one stick. Glad i've finally got it sorted.
