TobiasW
For Christmas, I got myself a T1 Race Chair. Upon assembly, I noticed that that the Gas lift was actually pocking out at the bottom of the Chair base, which is quite strange as it is thinner at the bottom and then gets thicker. Presumably, the hole in the Chair base is poorly made and bigger than it should be. It didn't really bother me much till I lowered the hight of the chair, now if I rotate the Chair the Tilt tension knob is scratching audible over all 5 arms of the chair base. Could anybody tell me if is intended or a production fault of my specific Chair?
Zotty
Funny you should mention this.... mine is exactly the same.. but.. the cover that covers it wouldn't be long enough if the gas lift didn't go into the spider so far.. i didn't give it much more thought. will monitor this thread as i feel my chair doesn't go high enough.... it's certainly much lower than my GT omega when both are at full height, will be hitting the support button if it's wrong.... but like i said.. the cover is just right for how it is right now.. and the skate wheels allows for what hangs out the bottom? LeoKost
Purchased my T1 chair today, and I gotta say I'm really disappointed regarding this issue. It seems my chair has a really bad-cut gas lift and the chair's overall height is really low. The bottom part of gas lift almost touches my floor. Anyone has an updates/suggestions on this? cofe
I purchased the chair in march this year and have the same problem. After I sent request to the seller, Corsair sent a substitution gas lift element, which has exactly the same dimensions and the same problem... Very disappointing... juangahoo
Same problem here, i think maybe they should send us another wheel base with the correct size to put the gas lift there...
Corsair Employee Corsair Mint Posted July 29, 2019 Corsair Employee Share Posted July 29, 2019 Hi juangahoo, do you have pretty plush carpet that might be allowing the chair to sink in? Could you see how far the cylinder is sitting when you have the chair on a hard surface? (wood, tile, laminate, etc) There was a change for it to be lower, but it shouldn't be scrapping the ground. Could you see how far the cylinder is sitting when you have the chair on a hard surface? (wood, tile, laminate, etc) There was a change for it to be lower, but it shouldn't be scrapping the ground. Hello! I can confirm that it actually goes all way down and scrapes my floor. When the first chair arrived I thought that it was a faulty gas lift, returned and got another one which didn't sink so badly the first week or two... but now it's the same. I have to get up before trying to move the chair because it's completely sitting on the gas lift. What should I do? Thanks!
juangahoo
Hi juangahoo, do you have pretty plush carpet that might be allowing the chair to sink in? Could you see how far the cylinder is sitting when you have the chair on a hard surface? (wood, tile, laminate, etc) There was a change for it to be lower, but it shouldn't be scrapping the ground. In my case, the cylinder isn't touching the floor in a hard surface, but is only 1 inch (2.5cm) from the floor, is too low, and i compared the chair with the ones in videos and pictures, and it's a difference about 5cm of heigh bethween my chair and the other chairs. That difference is what i need to be confortable with my desk. (I attach a picture of the cylinder of my chair and the distance from the floor)

When I buy the chair i was expecting the heigh of the videos, no one told me that you decided to lower it, now i have to change my desktop or the chair to be confortable, unless you can send me a gas cylinder of the old ones, before you changed them. trainingday01
In my case I can’t fit anything, it’s very close to the floor and it scratches it sometimes. Attached a photo.
Tailthorn
Same problem for me, i just received an answer and they want me to send back the pieces before sending new ones ! It's impossible to remove the piston from the chair leg without breaking the leg... How am i supposed to ship back something that big ? it's going to cost me a lot just because a problem of their own...
Roger Sampaio
I have the same problem. It's damaging my wood floor. I just opened a ticket on support. I hope they don't want me to deliver the chair. :[pouts:
Restlets1
I have the same problem... The gas lift is almost touching the floor and the chair's overall height is too low (only 45 cm, although the maximum height should be 52 cm according to the website). Did the support help someone? Is it possible to use a different gas lift in order to get the seat height higher?
Brandon_750
So I have the same problem. Just bought the chair on sale. The chair itself is good quality but the base and gas piston are an issue for me. I was able to to remove the base with a rubber mallet (remove from the chair first!!!) and used plastic sleeves to increase the thickness of the tapered piston at the bottom. Believe it or not i used a sleeve for my cable routing on my desktop. It fit perfectly into the hole of the chair base and thus prevented the piston from bottoming out. The fix took about 20min. Let me know if you need more details. Brandon
Corsair Employee Corsair Mint Posted December 3, 2019 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 3, 2019 Hey guys, if you've already put in a ticket for the chair, please PM me the number so I can ask for some fresh eyes on it. And we definitely shouldn't be asking you to send in a whole chair, we can get this straightened out.
YerMaw2020
Hi guys I got my chair in November and have the same problem. I currently use it on wooden flooring but due to rewiring work we need to uplift all the wooden flooring so the wife has decided it’s time for carpets except high traffic area’s. Now unfortunately my chair will not be able to move with the choice of carpet she has chosen. I also have the problem when the chair is at its lowest it catches the base. Tolz
Hello everyone ! I got this gaming chair as present for christmas but like everyone else here I have the same problem ! walterfab
Solved :D, they send me a new 5 point bass model, a metallic one. I'm super happy with the quick response of corsair.
Simzter
Sadly I have the same problem. The gas just sits too low. This isn't dragging against the carpet for me, but it affects the height of my chair. At its lowest it is: 410mm (Should be: 440mm) At its highest it is: 490mm (Should be: 520mm) My desk is quite tall and the 3cm makes gaming very uncomfortable. Can anybody who has received the revised parts confirm that it brings the height back up to its quoted specs?
vdsdbs
Same issue. Contacted the vendor and Corsair. Corsair came back with: "We appreciate your time reaching us, please be advised that we have consulted our product specialist for chairs. We would like to inform you that this unit was redesigned to sit very low in the 5 spoke, it will almost touch the floor on a hard surface, the carpet will sink the wheels and be a little closer as well. Please let us know if you need further assistance. " And this I know is not true, as some of you guys have pointed out, the product does not meet the size specifications. Challenged this back and see where it gets me but so far, it's been a proper nuisance. I have many Corsair products (keyboards, mice, headset, RAM, PSU, AIO cooler, fans, case) and never a single issue. I think maybe they should stay with what they're good at. Hockster2
My chair also has the same issue. I bought mine just over a year ago, December of 2018. Mine had the crappy casters, Corsair replaced those under warranty, new batch are excellent. But now the gas cylinder is quite loose in the base. My whole seat wobbles back and forth. With my chair being over a year old I'm not sure anything can be done.
