jimnms
I purchased two XMS modules CMX512-2700LL (XMS2705v1.2) not quite two years ago. Recently I've been having random reboots while playing games. I formatted my HD and started with a fresh install of Windows, but that did not solve the problem. I downloaded the memtest program and have run it on each individual module, and both failed. One module failed with 40 errors after one pass, the other failed with 4 errors after two passes. According to the FAQ I have to contact support here before submitting an RMA. Does this mean I will be without a computer while I RMA the RAM?

jimnms
Please make sure the modules are in slots 1-3... I'm not sure understand, I'm testing each module separately in the first slot. ...and then please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and set the Rass to Cass to "3" then please test the modules with http://www.memtest.org. I made the changes and re-ran the tests. Now I get 34 errors on the first module and 1 on the second one. http://img145.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img145&image=chip21xl.jpg http://img145.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img145&image=chip15la.jpg
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 3, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 3, 2005 That might suggest some other problem, can you tell me the exact settings you had set and also the system configuration?
jimnms
That might suggest some other problem, can you tell me the exact settings you had set and also the system configuration? How does that suggest other problems? I consistantly get more errors with the one module than I do with the other. I've already posted the exact settings with pictues. The BIOS settings are default, except I changed the RAS to CAS to 3, and set the mem voltage to 2.7 like you told me to.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 4, 2005 It would be unlikely to get 2 modules fail at the same time, unless there was some other device in your system failing. I have no problem replacing your modules, but what you have posted so far does not suggest its only a module problem. I would suggest testing the modules in another system if you can! Please send us a email with a copy of the form or all of your info name address and phone# and the Module part# and copy the link to this post and email it to Rma@corsairmemory.com. If after 1 day or 24 hours excluding weekends you do not get the rma please email the same to warranty@corsairmemory.com and we will help to resolve it.
