stivirino
Hi Guys!! After a year it's time for upgrade, what are your thoughts on this? I recently switched to 2 cmx 256 3500c2 and noticed a small diference in comparision to the 3700's I had, (faster timmings). I am OC'ing these to 220 being quite stable, when I tried any higher I can get to 225 @2.8V -2.5-4-4-8. But I think my Saphire is the one that goes out becomming unstable. Anyway 512 is a little too small, and I'm not sure if I should get on the twinx1024-3200xl wagon or should I just get another stick of the 3500c2's I have? I am going to lightly OC either way. But will I benefit more from the tighter timmings of the XL or should I stick with the higher freq. of the 3500's v1.1 ? (if not mistaken Version 1.1 have Winbond BH-5) What's your take? Wired
All 3500s are BH-5. They haven't been made in over a year though, so you won't be able to find them easily. Get 3200XLs.

Last week there were about 10 of them up for auction (EBay). This week not that many but there is a constant flow of them the prices are crazy though. Anyway which do you think would perform better? Wired
What CPU / FSB / Motherboard do you have? Also, any memory not bought from a store does not have a warranty.
stivirino
What CPU / FSB / Motherboard do you have? Also, any memory not bought from a store does not have a warranty. MB: MSI 865PE Neo2-FIS2R (MS-6728) bios up to date. CPU: P4 2.8c 800mhz, stock HSF FSB: 800Mhz (now overclocked 220x4 880) I am aware of the warrranty. I'm more concerned with performance though (and cost)
stivirino
I have not received the 3500c2 yet, private sellers take a long time to shipp. But newegg is always fast with free shiping. it's a shame I can't get the 3500c2 from them. So far not so good, can't boot in Dual channel (see other thread) but I think due to settings. we'll see and I'll keep up with the progress. Meanwhile anybody has any thoughts? or is this too close to call? 3200XL vs 3500c2 = ?
CandyKid
IMHO, the XL's (1.2) are better than the 3500's based on the BH-5's. I.E. TCCD > BH5, even though the TCCD requires a higher voltage than the Winbond chips did. It seems that they're a little more versatile and will, in fact, overclock just as well or even better than the BH-5's did/do. The other factor is that they're still in production and you can get them without selling your left kidney. PLUR CK FYI, The 4400C25's are based on the TCCD IC! CandyKid
Well... no, but I mean that the TCCD's run higher than the BH-5's did. They could OC quite well on 2.5 volts! PLUR CK
pershoot
TCCD is good for high frequency loose timings. they will not hold tight timings at high freq., though. this is where BH-5 remains king. UTT is great up to a point but will stop scaling at a certain point. BH-5 will usually keep scaling. with increased voltage.

chefoz
Maybe this isn't the place to post this?? :o: But I have the same sticks. I also have 2/512xms pc4000. Should I RMA the 3500's them and get 2/256xms pc4000 instead?...
