Bhim
Hi! I want to buy a Asus A8N SLI Deluxe or SLI Standard motherboard with a Corsair VS1GBKIT400 (Value Select 2x512MB). But my fvourite hardware magazine writes, that Athlon64 systems do have problems with DDR400 modules if they are doublesided and that they will only run @ 333Mhz if there are two doublesided modules used on one memory channel. They also say, that in fact there shall be no more than one doublesided and one single sided (better two singlesided) RAM modules per channel if they should run @ DDR400 speed. Is that true for this modules on this board or does it only apply for FOUR modules, like Asus says (I got confused there)? However, the selected modules are on the Asus QVL list (http://www.asuscom.de/products/mb/socket939/a8nsli/A8N-SLI-DDR400.pdf) or at least the VS512MB400 is of which the VS1GBKIT400 consists of, so they should work @ DDR400, right? The same magazine says, that a BIOS update on the Deluxe board (from 1001 to 1002 or 1003) would do me no good, because that would lead to stability porblems with my GeForce 6800 GT PPCIx board at the moment. So thats no solution. :[pouts: With best regards, Bhim
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 2, 2005 Yes with more than 2 double sided modules DDR333 would be suggested. And this MB should have no problem running 2 Vs512MB400 modules at DDR400.
