Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 1, 2005 Can you tell me the modules part# and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
doolop
on the little silver thing it says: cmx512r - 3200c2 and then it says XMS320 512mb 400mhz and i have 2 of them, its also has another silver sticker on that says twinx, i have no idead what your talking about when you want the bios settings, but my processor is a Athlon XP 2500 333 barton, and my ram ratio is 1:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 1, 2005 The modules you have are registered modules and would be for AMD64 Opteron socket 940 CPU's only. If you have an AMD Athalon you would need un-buffered memory!
doolop
im gonna have to dissagree with this... cuase look at this: http://www.corsairmicro.com/corsair/products/specs/cmx512-3200c2.pdf THATS the one i have, if you would like i could take a picture of one, would that clarify the problem? Wired
on the little silver thing it says: cmx512r - 3200c2 You linked to a CMX512, not a CMX512R. Which one do you have? The R stands for Registered.

Wired
I have NEVER EVER heard of an Athlon XP board that uses Registered memory. Now I have heard of ONE Registered stick working occasionally in unregistered systems, but never 2. In order for Corsair to validate an RMA, I'm pretty sure they're going to have to be tested in a motherboard that takes Registered memory first. What CPU / FSB / Motherboard do you have? doolop
athlon XP 2500/ 333 / ecs k7vta3 ver 5 and you know... i was only using one stick... because i thougth that that stick was causeing problems....
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 2, 2005 How long have you had this module? If you have not had it too long you might ask your reseller if they will chnage it for the non registered module, IE: CMX512-3200C2. Bottom line I have no problem replacing your module, but that may not solve the problem.
