Trouble with one of memory module

Hello,

I purchased recently a new configuration

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (512KB Cache) / 1600 MHz Socket 754

Mobo: Asus Deluxe SE K8V

Mem: TWINX 1024 - 3200 LLPT

Graphic card: Geforce 6800 GT

HDD: 250 GB Maxtor 7200 rpm

and sometime I have a dump of the physical memory (in c:\windows\minidump) with the well known blue screen. My system is instalble and it dumps the memory randomly.

After I have supected the CPU, the Mobo the HDD (but all of them work) I decided to realize a memory test. :!:

I create a boot CD and start the test with the two modules (2 x 512) and detect memory errors sometimes. :(:

I decided to do the test again but with only one module of 512 mb:

One is working fine :sunglasse ... but the other failed many times :[pouts: .

I found the gulty of the instability of my system: one of my memory module is defected.

As these 2 memory modules are perfeclty identical, I am sure there is a problem of memory.

I hope I am posting in the right forum, but I have read that it is not possible to send a resquest form to change the module before than one of you helps me, so what is your opinion? Could you help me? I waste a week (each evening) to resinstall WinXP, change disk (with an old one) update my drivers to see there is a problem with one module.

Currently my system is running with only one memory module and it seems to working fine (before I find the problem, I received a blue screen with a physical memory dump message and a reboot)

Thank you for your patience

Best regards,

Ulyss (from Belgium)

PS: As I purchased my memory in a pack (Twinx 1024 -3200 LLPT) should I send back the 2 mem modules?

Yes, you should send them as one Twinx set if that how they were purchased. And I would try your reseller first and see if they will help you get them replaced. If they will not or cannot help you the please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
