Question about rpm for LL140 RGB fans

The product page states it goes from 600-1300rpm

But on iCue I've seen it state they spin at 300 when on my custom curve profile. When I set it to fixed rpm on 50% they go at 850~ and 100% they go at 1400~

So... none of these numbers really add up, if 50% is going at 850 why is 100% at 1400? And is it bad to go over 1300rpm since that is what's stated as the max on the product page?

Same with my LL 120 fan, states max is 1500rpm, but 100% it goes at 1600rpm.

Not all fans have a strictly linear response curve and not all controllers can replicate exact percentages regardless. This does mean you need to look at see what % corresponds to what RPM when using the cooler or your motherboard fan controller. Small learning curve for each fan.

Min/Max percentages usually have a +-10% variance. So it would not be unusual to see 1400 when on the case with little resistance. Someone using them on the radiator will see less than 1300 with both resistance and any variance. It doesn't mean it's "overreaching" or is likely to wear out faster. Since both sets of yours run a bit higher, it may be the motherboard is providing a slight boost, but regardless it is not something to be concerned about. Exceedingly high speed or maximum well below the listed spec are something else. Usually you can hear problems with those fans too, whether it's mechanical whine or other high frequency noise. If you can get them to spin down to 300, others will be jealous. Most people cannot get them much below 550, so again whatever controller you're using may give you an advantage.

awesome thank you for the response. i have my fans connected to the commander pro.

i have another question: i have my fan curve profile for my 120mm and 140mm and was wondering what would happen to my 140s if they are set to 1600rpm? Would it be bad for them? Or would it be ok and they would only go up to 1400rpm while my 120s go to their 1600rpm?

The 140s will just stop when they reach 1400. It’s 12v all the time and no additional is applied. Now that said, you can add a nearly unlimited number of fan profiles to iCUE. You can make multiple versions for each fan or fan size.

Also, since you have a Commander Pro, you shouldn’t need to mess with calculating fan % to rpm. You should be able to tell your fans to run xxx rpm and they will do exactly that if PWM fans. If you want 900 rpm, enter in that value. No need for %.
