florent_2003
Since I’ve change memory RAM (2 x RAM Corsair VALUESELECT : VS512MB400C3), I’ve some problem with my PC After one month of use I experienced twice the same error under Win XP Pro. After few days, the system crashes with this error message : impossible to load file : C:\windows\system32\config\system I change my hard disk, reinstall XP, nothing change. My PC config is : AMD Athlon 2100 Motherboard : CHAINTECH – 7VIL4 – AMD SOCKET A – VIAKT400A + VT8235 2 x RAM Corsair VALUESELECT : VS512MB400C3 Soundcard : Soundblaster Live I use Memtest86 for testing my RAM memory, the result is bad : 1 - When I use default configuration of DRAM clock, Memtest86 craches with 6# test or 7# test and my PC reboot : Default Configuration : Advanced Chipset Features / DRAM Clock – Drive Control Current FSB Frequency : 166 MHZ Current DRAM Frequency : 166 MHZ DRAM Clock : Automatic by SPD DRAM Timing : By SPD DRAM Cas Latency : 2.5 Bank Interleave : Diseable Precharge Toactivice (TRP) : 5T Active Precharge (TRAS) : 7T Active to CMD (TRCD) : 5T DRAM burst lenght : 4 DRAM command rate : 2T Command Write recovery time : 3T TWTR : 2T 2 - I try an other configuration after to read your forum and Memtest86 detect error with test #4 : Configuration Test : Advanced Chipset Features / DRAM Clock – Drive Control Current FSB Frequency : 166 MHZ Current DRAM Frequency : 200 MHZ DRAM Clock : 200 MHZ DRAM Timing : Manual DRAM Cas Latency : 2.5 Bank Interleave : Diseable Precharge Toactivice (TRP) : 4T Active Precharge (TRAS) : 8T Active to CMD (TRCD) : 5T DRAM burst lenght : 8 DRAM command rate : 2T Command Write recovery time : 3T TWTR : 2T When I read articles of the forum, I noticed that often the value Cas latency often advised is 2.7. Except my bios allows to select only 2, 2.5, 3? Can help me to install my stick memory? Thank you for your assistant.

florent_2003
Thanks for your help. When I go to home, I try your parameters. Just a question about DDR Voltage. I’m not a expert of bios configuration. I don’t know change DDR voltage because I don't find this option in bios setup. Could you help me ? Thanks for your assistance. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 1, 2005 The Dim Voltage will usually be where you set the CPU VCore under frequency and Voltage control or in Advanced Chipset where you set the timings. Please check the user manual. It might also be a jumer on your MB.
