nike23
Hello i have a matched pair of XMS 2700LLPT ram....one of my sticks is now missing 3 copper coatings on the pins and this is causeing my system to reboot and not post. I took this stick out and all is fine with the system. Im hopeing i can get an RMA and get it fixed so i can have 1gb kit back. the info on the stick is as follows: CMX512-2700LLPT XMS2705v1.2 0350037 XMS2700 512mb 333mhz 2325 Ive had this module for a year and love it (never had any issues) but uppon inspecting it after all the reboots within 15 mins i noticed the copper was missing on 2 pins on one side and on 1 pin on the other side, i took it out and the reboots have stopped and am running stable again. Please give me some assistance in this matter.

nike23
Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! Thanks i got my RMA number and all of that but now im stuck with another issue that i need sorted out....heres what the RMA said: Please make note this part is obsolete and we will be replacing it with our part CMX512-3200LLPT that is fine with me, but i have TWINX ram which are matched stick dual channel ram. If i send my bad one in and get the 3200 back i will no longer have 1 gb of TWINX dual channel ram since the sticks will not be matched. So what should i do or what should be done to rectify this? As my 2700 are twinx and are a 1gb matched pair dual channel ram.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 1, 2005 You should submit the RMA request for 1 Twinx1024-2700LL if that is what you have and then yes please send both modules. But please reply to that email and explain this to customer service so they can change your RMA.

But please reply to that email and explain this to customer service so they can change your RMA. Thanks i did reply to the email explaining that i have 2 512 sticks of this ram that have a twinx sticker on them which means they are matched pairs for dual channel (purchased as a 1gb kit together.) I will wait for the email reply or phone call before i send these in, and will also wait a couple of days to send these in as i have no spare ram to put in so will have to have a buddy to send me a stick of ram so im not down for the week and a half that i figure this will take to get completed and back into my system. Thanks again for the help and the experience has been made enjoyable (tho the ram stick getting damaged wasnt lol) by you fine people at corsair. Wired
What CPU / FSB / motherboard do you have? Try one stick at a time in each slot. Also, if stuff came off of the other sticks, make sure they're not in the RAM slots.

Yes they have been cleared of all copper plateing that came off the other ones, these sticks are fine in that sence. My FSB chip is 533...the ram is running propper at 333 speeds (pc2700) with this fsb speed. my motherboard is ASUS P4C800 E-Deluxe.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 5, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 5, 2005 Can you tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? Should be something like this. AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual CPU Freq: 133 MHz Memory Frequency: DDR333/166MHz Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166 MHz/DDR333 Legacy USB: Disabled SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T
nike23
Yes, all of my settings were defaults except the timeings and voltage (i had them setup via the recommended timeings thru your link in your sig), i took the modules out put in my backup 512 ram and all is fine again. I dont have anything over clocked like my cpu or anything so performance settings for the bios were default. So i did take these modules out as i said and im stable again so this tells me that one of my modules is bad :[pouts:
