It certainly covers more than the Pro or -v2 series coolers and does a pretty good job cooling my 2950x. At idle, I'll have a coolant/core temp delta of around 2-3C ... the highest I've gotten to was just briefly touching 70C while running an extended load with Prime95. Most of the time during the Prime95 run, the temp was in the 60's. One of the other iCue Beta Team members is also running a Platinum cooler on his 1950X and has reported excellent results as well.
