Sim1626861419
I have two systems, both based on an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo The first system (let's call it A) has an AthlonXP 3200+ CPU in it (400MHz FSB), plus a VS1GBKIT400 pair of PC3200 512MB modules. SPD reports 2.5-3-3-8 The second system (B) has an AthlonXP 3000+ CPU in it (333MHz FSB), plus a pair of VS512MB333 PC2700 512MB Modules. SPD reports 2.5-3-3-7 The A7N8X-E Deluxe has 3 memory slots. Now, I want to upgrade system B to 3GB RAM (long story, don't ask). Obviously this means I will need three 1GB modules. The store I usually buy my memory from has kits of TWINX2048-3200 (3-3-3-8 I think the Corsair site says) and TWINX2048-3200C2 (2.5-3-3-6 I think). My thought is ... to get system B to 3GB, I would need to buy two of these kits (two of the same that is - probably the TWINX2048-3200C2), and then I would have a 1GB module left over that I can throw into system A. Here's what I'm hoping to do: System A (333MHz FSB) 3x 1GB modules from the two TWINX2048-3200C2 kits Q: the PC3200 RAM should work okay with the 333MHz FSB right ? I know it won't be running at full speed, but I don't want to change the AthlonXP 3000+ CPU from that machine. System B (400MHz FSB) 1x 1GB module left over from the TWINX2048-3200C2 kits 2x 512MB modules from the VS1GBKIT400 kit Q: should the 2.5-3-3-8 from the VS1GBKIT400 work okay with the 2.5-3-3-6 from the TWINX2048-3200C2 ? Thoughts or suggestions ?
Wired
Yes, and then no, in that order. Order one 1 GB stick vs. an extra twinx pack.
