shak100a
Hi I purchased on of these https://madoffers.co.uk/collections/120mm-fans/products/corsair-12cm-120mm-black-grey-7-fin-fan-cooler-case-oem and have been looking everywhere for them as I believe these expired last decade. Problem I have is the description said 3 pin but I have received a 4 pin pwm connector. Can I convert this to connect to my motherboard which has a 3 pin connector. Any help would be much appreciated thanks
DevBiker
Those look like the radiator fans that came with the previous generation of coolers. If so, they can run in DC mode (voltage controlled). There really isn't a "converter" - PWM is totally different from DC control - but most PWM fans will operate as DC-controlled fans but with less precision and less range. The Corsair ML fans are an exception to this.
shak100a
Hi Thanks for getting back to me, can I remove one of the pins as I have just found out that somebody else had the same issue but removed a pin, not sure how though.
DevBiker
No, the 4-pin connector will plug into the 3-pin connection. I'm not sure why you would need to remove any pins.
