jd_Corsair
I started having problems with an application crashing to desktop. After updating all video, mb, sound and network drivers, I was still having the problem. I downloaded memtest86 and found that I had memory errors. I replaced the two memory modules with new DDR400 memory and had no problems with the application crashing and memtest did not report any errors. I then tested each module alone and found that one module produced the errors in memtest86. My system: Asus P4C800 Deluxe ATI Radeo 9800 Pro (2) Corsair CMX512-3200C2 Ram settings according to memtest: 199 mhz (DDR398) / CAS: 2.5-3-3-8 / Dual Channel (128 bits) I did not make any manual changes to these settings. They are the default settings. I would like to know if I can get a replacement module. Thanks, Jason
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 24, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 24, 2005 Please try and set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts and test the modules one at a time with the following settings. CPU Freq: 200 MHz Memory Frequency: 100%/DDR400 Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts Resulting Frequency: 200MHz/DDR400 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. If you get errors please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
jd_Corsair
I downloaded memtest v1.52 and made the timing adjustments as requested. Memtest reported these settings: Ram Settings: 199 mhz (DDR398) / CAS: 2-3-3-6 / Single Channel FSB: 199 mhz I believe I entered them correctly from what you suggested. I still received errors from the module in question. Test #5 produced 13,239 errors and Test #7 produced 1064 errors. I did not let the test complete since so many errors were already found. Do you have more suggestions or does the module need replaced? Thanks, Jason
