No lightning link for RAM? Even for simple lighting?

This has been driving me crazy for a while now, and it finally dawned on me that maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

in iCue (latest), I can see my RAM (Vengeance RGB), and all my corsair devices, but I cannot enable lightning link on the RAM. I could understand it not working for advanced effects, but I'm just rotating colors slowly. The RAM can rotate colors, but not in sync with everything else.

My keyboard, Mouse, Mousepad, Fans, and LED strips can all cycle to the same color, but the RAM is off on it's own, and almost always a different color than literally everything else.

Is this just the way it is, or is there something I can enable or edit to get lightning link to work with my corsair RAM?

Corsair Vengeance RGB. I don't believe the "pro" existed when I bought them.

That's a major disappointment if true. It's funny that something like Aura sync can manage to sync the lights with my CPU cooler and motherboard if I want (I don't), but iCue can't get it to sync with all my other Corsair gear.

The product description says, "Corsair Link enables fully programmable lighting effects Memory monitoring additional integration with other Corsair products."

I'm wondering what integration this is, other than appearing in Link/iCue? That seems to be the extent of it. For me, currently, I get more functionality out of Aura sync, which makes no sense.

Link is EOL, so don't expect to see any new patches for it. There are some limitations with the way RGB is controlled on the RAM. Even with my RGB Pro RAM, the lighting link can be out of sync as there is a delay between the RAM and the software. This is more noticeable when you use an effect like cycle color.

I wouldn't mind a delay, which is a lot better than just not having the feature at all.

I can't fathom why Aura Sync can manage to sync the RAM with my Wraith cooler, but iCue can't get it to sync with my other Corsair gear. Seems like there isn't a physical limitation, but a software one.

The limitations is due to the fact the iCUE does not control the RGB directly, like it does via it's USB controlled devices like the LNP, CoPro, mice, keyboards, and etc. If the RAM had an external connector, which would be ugly, then it could sync up perfectly. The issue has do with the limitations and latency that come with controlling the RAM over the SMBUS:

I think it is easier for Asus to do this as they own the software and made the architecture of the MBs. So in theory they could easily can figure out the latency between the software and the SMBUS, then set a delay to offset the difference. As Corsair is dealing with more than just one brand of MB, this might be more complicated.

There are some additional factors that can future complicate this problem. A lot of times when one thing is fixed other items can break. If they do figure out a delay to offset the latency issue for the RAM on every board, this could impact other use cases. iCUE does interact with Farcry 5 and the lighting effects can change based off actions in the game. So if you catch fire, then the RAM would match fine, though the whole action of fire lighting effect would be delayed by a second or more.

I guess that makes sense, but its really disappointing, and I don't feel like they publicize how poorly the Vengeance RGB RAM works with everything else.

It's pretty frustrating that I'm wholly bought into Corsair gear, minus a CPU cooler, and I can't even get some simple color cycling working using their software. I'm on the fence about even getting a CPU cooler now, which was in my plans, as there's no way I can get my memory to be in sync with it.
