andrea_garo
I have an obsidian 1000D I have two 480 mm front radiators I want to put 16 front fans on the radiators (push pull) 3 fans in the upper part and two behind. I want to get the maximum cooling performance. What series of fans do you recommend?
c-attack
I suppose that would the ML120 Pro, as it’s a relatively flat blade with 2000+ rpm speeds. However, the whole purpose of using a pair of giant radiators is you don’t need to blast the fans and the surface area becomes your advantage. You likely could use whatever you like and have similar results, but there is quite a bit of variance in custom radiator design and you might need to be more specific about the total wattage you need to dissipate and the radiator element. andrea_garo
currently I have to dispel an i78600k and two gtx 1080 ti 11G by asus
c-attack
8600K is a drop in the bucket. My 8700K@5.0 GHz is a measly little +4-5C coolant temp on a 280 AIO. The Ti are more significant and represent the bulk of the wattage. Still, dual 480s should handle this with relative ease. The ML120 PRO (non-RGB) can run from 500-2000, so both the low and high range are covered. There are a few similar fans with similar statistics from other manufacturers that are comparable. This will most certainly do the job. You DO NOT need 3000 rpm fans. I also think you can use the slightly lower speed RGB series of HD or LL if that is of value to you. I don't see fan speed being a limiting issue, although there is quite a bit of difference between various radiators and I don't know what you are working with. A high density 480 might actually need those 1500 rpm+ speeds or you have a nice low speed designed model like mine that can dump most of a Titan X's heat at a piddly 800 rpm. andrea_garo
I want to get the maximum refrigeration performance, also remembering the aesthetics and the noise. Unfortunately I live in a place where in summer you can reach even 35/39 ° with air conditioner on. I want my new build not to suffer from this. So you say that I can do everything with the ML 120? c-attack
Well, unfortunately the rules of the universe dictate the room temperature penalty will hurt you no matter what you do with the fans. If it is 35C in the room, all your temps in the entire system will be +10C warmer than if it were 25C. There is no escaping this and you can’t turn up the fans solve it. Faster fan speeds will help keep the increase in coolant temperature down, but the coolant temp will still be the lowest possible component temperature. The ML120 Pro can run as slow as 400-500 rpm and as fast as 2000+. That covers all conditions. However, since you have the nice shiny glass case, the ML-120 RGB would likely also look nice. It will have a lower maximum speed of 1500-1600, but I don’t think you need above that. However, it is more expensive and also requires additional wiring for the RGB lights. Not sure if you have a preference.
andrea_garo
I had thought about this wiring diagram. Of course, motherboard and fan type must be changed

c-attack
Ok, as long as you know what you’re getting in to. Many people jump into the RGB fans thinking it will be the same as the single color LED of old. More wiring, more gear, more $$$.

Zotty
just to add another option. you could cut it down to 2 Commander Pro's for the front 16 fans... so 2 times the below diagram http://i.imgur.com/GH6RjQcl.png this would allow you to keep Sequential RGB effects working correctly.. and indeed keeps fan control in 2 places (front/Back of rads) rather than all spread out across multiple devices Edited October 9, 2018 by Zotty
andrea_garo
it's a great idea. do you have other optimizations?
Zotty
it's a great idea. do you have other optimizations? here is how my 1000d is set up.... its still Rocking an AIO atm though,,, http://i.imgur.com/hvFeswUl.png
Zotty
Maybe this one is more along the lines of what you need.. http://i.imgur.com/g22mWOnl.png
andrea_garo
the last one is just what I'm looking for! I have a question though. To get the configuration: fan - radiator - fan Are the M3 x 30 mm screws correct or do you need larger screws?
Zotty
so.... The supplied screws with the case are long enough to go through the tray.. through the front fans and into the rads.... and the rear go direct to the back of the rad..... Hope that makes sense... will have a dig into my box of 1000d screws when i am back at home and measure for you.

Zotty
just in case you are unaware....... lol.... not teaching you to suck eggs dude.. but some people really dont get the concept lol.. just saving my self some time later by posting it now.. even if you don't need to know.... others might lol both fans need to blow in the same direction... NOT both towards the Radiator ;)... in one side.. out the other... or.. blow one side... suck the other... or.... push one side... pull the other,,,,
andrea_garo
I want to know if the screws provided in the box are long enough to do this at the front of the case

c-attack
Use M30 on each side of the radiator for each fan. You won’t be able to “pass through”
