BluMandu
I have the H100i PRO cpu cooler and Crystal Series 460X case. I am running the radiator for the H100i in push/pull with the Sp RGB fans that came with the case (turned around) pushing from the outside. I have two ML PRO RGB fans on the inside pulling. Can I combine the pwm's of the SP and ML fans with a splitter into the fan header from the pump for the H100i. I could switch out and run all ML RGB's but it is a waste of fans and there is little difference in the specs of the fan except for the SP draws 0.3A and the ML draws 0.2A. Or can I combine both ML's into one fan header of the pump and both SP's into the other fan header? Thanks for any help. My new build is waiting for this solution. c-attack
The PWM fan controller in the pump will make the DC SP120 RGB run at maximum at all times. This is probably not a desirable or beneficial scenario. The two sets of fans don't have to be in perfect sync. Not sure what you are using for a fan control variable for the SP (assuming motherboard connected), but you could get $7 10K thermistor wire and connect it to the slot on Hero X. Run the other end to the back side of the ML or slide it between them and the exhaust side of the radiator. This will create a control variable (temp 1) in the BIOS that is the equivalent of coolant temperature. That will make it much easier to keep the SP side closer to the ML in speed and likely with less dynamic fan shifts. You could also solve this by getting a Commander Pro and moving the SP fans off the board and to the C-Pro. Then they could be directly set to coolant temp. C-Pro is DC/PWM capable. Obviously that represents an expense, but it is a useful tool for a number of different applications.
BluMandu
Thank you for your reply. I like your thoughtful solution to putting the sp's and ml's in a degree of sync. I do have commander PRO, though, so can use it with some combining of my 9 fans. I assumed the H100i would be a better controller of fan speed with increasing CPU or coolant temp. Disappointing if not so.
c-attack
You can use the same curve from either the C-Pro or H100i PRO and base t on coolant temperature (H100i PRO Temp). Put the DC SP120 fans on the C-Pro. H100i PRO Temp should be a variable choice in the drop down menu. Leave the PWM ML on the H100i. Since you can set the curve via specific RPM, you don't even have to worry about calculating the percentages of two different fan sets. All of the AIO on the market are PWM controllers. I suspect it is more reliable or easier to implement from an electrical standpoint instead of having the pump squelch the voltage, but I have never put the question to anyone on the manufacturing end.
