Switch Profiles

Recommended Posts

even if i haven't any corsair component yet, i have installed iCUE to see what it can do.

i like i can create profiles with (i suppose) different set of lights/effects.

What i don't understand is how i can quickly switch profile. Do i really have to enter the main window and select the profile i want?

It would be nice to have global hotkeys associated to every profile.

You can't unless you have a Corsair Keyboard and assign a macro key.

Here's some threads mentioning profile switching and other similar things (like the default profile)

Keyboard or mouse. Either way, you need some sort of Corsair input device to act as the switch. It isn't reasonable to expect Corsair software to control other brands of peripherals or vice versa. In the meantime, you can use the program link function to tie specific profiles to various games or other programs.

i don't want corsair software to control other hardware. just want a chance to assign CTRL-ALT-P to change profile.

So i can put that hotkey wherever i want.

I won't even buy a corsair mouse. the dark core SE is nice but they failed with the wireless recharge. the mouse should be recharging while in use, like the logitech powerplay. Having a zone for recharge is like having to put the mouse on a dock to recharge it.

It also means i have too set a profile for each one of my 300+ games just so i can have a colour for GPU temps?

Yes it is you should be able to do it from the command line

If you have time to create 300 individual game profiles, then you have time to add an .exe link for each. For most people, having a general game profile with certain colors, higher fan speeds, or notifications works just fine. The argument that it is too much work to open iCUE and select your game profile to make it active (3 clicks) before embarking on your hour+ long gaming session during which you will make thousands of clicks and keystrokes is beyond laughable. This is the problem the OP is grappling with.

You can set-up profile cycling from 2 to ALL profiles with the software and a Corsair mouse or keyboard. However, the more profiles you have the less useful this is going to be. Using the profile switch to go from Profile 1 to Profile 24 is going to take a lot longer than opening the app and directly selecting it. High frequency applications can be linked or added to a smaller folder of profiles for cycling.

The most efficient way may depend on the hardware and peripherals you wish to control and for what purpose. The OP doesn't have any iCUE devices and this is all theoretical musing. Your specifications are not listed, so I can only guess you are talking about linking RGB fans or a Corsair keyboard to the temperature function in iCUE.

THIS IS NOT WHAT I ASKED,so please stop writing about this.

having the chance to link a software to a profile is good so maybe i can create a profil with lights that shows CPU temperatures and assign this to games but i just wanted a way to quickly change effects from White Static to Blu Visor (example) with 1 click....and without having to change the application

No, that is what the other person asked. Linking profiles has one very important limitation. You can only link one .exe to each profile. You can use the copy function to endlessly duplicate the same profile and then link each one to a specific game, but really that is more tedious than simply clicking on a generic game profile in iCUE.

3 clicks, I have a HTPC so I don't use keyboard or Mouse, just a controller or universal remote, I use media center software and steam big picture mode. I never see the desktop.

I'm not the only person who has a HTPC

So if i could use a script (command line) to change the profile and launch steam that would be a million times better than having to get a keyboard and mouse plug it in for 5 minutes to exit a full screen application, sit on the floor because the pc is connected to the main TV, to then change the profile on icue and start my media center software and run the script to start steam, adjust volume and adjust my light bulbs.

I have the spec omega RGB case and a load of HD140 fans so i want GPU temps Green - Red when gaming and subtle lighting when watching a film. Currently i have to do want i mentioned above.

NXZT Cam software has an app so it's bit more manageable to change profiles, but I'm not even bothering to change profiles right now because how much of hassle it is, it's not just 3 clicks for everyone.

OK, I understand and that does change the discussion. It might be possible to do what you want using the SDK or perhaps another 3rd party app that can link and iCUE macro to the command or something else. I have not looked at this before and don't have the need, so we are going to need some other people to help. That is likely to be a very technical discussion, so perhaps starting a new thread would be best.
