Freeman290860
Hallo All. I have a problem in that the 1GB (x2 512MB) RAM on the MSI K8T Neo-FSR is only being recogised as x2 256MB sticks. :(: Can anyone please help me sort this problem out? I have had the RAM tested and it is OK!

Freeman290860
Try one stick at a time in each slot. What does each stick register as? I have tried that, but not in all slots. I put each stick in at a time in DIMM 1 & 2 slots, it showed the same each time, 256MB. As soon as I can I will check it in DIMM 3 slot, but that could be a few days as it's by a friend. The RAM has been checked at the place that I bought it from, they have written to say it's OK, I have also put it in an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe board and it shows 1GB straight away. I am wondering if there is a problem with the mainboard, such as with the Dual Channel? Is it possible that the board is searching for Dual Channel only or is it a problem with the RAM itself? Or do you know if there are any settings on the motherboard that I need to change? I will be trying the RAM out on another MSI K8T Neo-FSR tonight, I will keep you informed. Thankyou very much for your help! Gordon.
Wired
If the memory works fine in another board, it's not the memory. Checking one stick at a time and having the problem means that it isn't the dual channel property. It's most likely the memory controller.
Freeman290860
Hi. I have tried thr RAM in another MSI K8T Neo motherboard. It showed the correct amount of RAM with no problems. I guess I will have to exchange the Motherboard. Thankyou very much indeed for your help. I will keep you informed!
