crdigits
my problem is simple...yet frustrating i have a DFI Lanparty nForce 2 ultra B motherboard an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton 400 core one stick of the CMX512-3200LL ram and two sata HD's on seagate 120 gig and one hitachi 120 gig both 7200 rpms with an 8 meg cache running windows XP professional...now to my problem...my problem is that when i first got the system for x-mas i put it all together and turned it on...poed in the disc and went to install windows...and every attemp usually froze at the formatting part of it so after a couple times i contacted DFI...and after numerous times of contacting them they flat out told me to get a new motherboard ram or processor...or all...some service huh...anyways they said that the problem was with the ram...a problem they have had before and they told me to flash the bios and make some settings to the ram timing and what not....so i did...nothing...and since they had said that it was a problem that had with 200MHZ front side bus CPU's and ram i figured well leme try setting the CPU's FSB down...so i set it to 166 and well...thats how i got windows installed and how i have it running right now...but i dun like it casue i have a processor with a 200 MHZ FSB...not a 166...so im wondering if you can help determine what exactly my problem is and get my system running to the speeds i paid for....thank you for you time and any reply i may receive
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 22, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 22, 2005 Please try and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and test the module with http://www.memtest.org.
crdigits
well ran memtest...no errors...so im guessing its insuffcient power...overheating or something other then the memory...any suggestions as to possibly what it could be...ive had this problem since december and im sure you can agree that its irritating and frustrating
hoshman
I was having similar issues and ended up losing a HD and mobo in the process. Turns out it's just a bad stick of RAM that cost me my time and money. Anyway, I'm posting this to start the process of RMA'ing my bad stick. Memtest came up with mulitiple errors  , so I need to get a replacement stick. If I'm posting in the wrong place, please let me know. CMX512-3200LLPRO is what I have. Thanks for any help getting me closer to a working stick of RAM.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 23, 2005 hoshman Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! crdigits Do you get any errors with both modules installed? And have you tried the system with the Dim Voltage set to 2.7 Volts? And you might list your system configuration.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 23, 2005 You might consider getting a bigger PSU, but I would try and maybe increase the CPU Vcore a few tenths of a volt and see if that helps.
crdigits
well bumped the vcore...and nothing...figured out i have a 300 watt power supply in right now...got a 350 antec in another computer...so tomorrow ima swap out...and if that dun work ima see about getting a new one...and if that dun work...then ima have to replace the window that im gonna throw my computer out of
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 24, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 24, 2005 Please let me know, and we will be happy to replace the modules if needed but it sounds like maybe the CPU or MB if the PSU does not siolve the problem. crdigits
will do...just gotta get ahold of a bigger power power supply and see whats up...and i hope its not the mobo...cause according to DFI its not...to them its either the proc or ram
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 24, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 24, 2005 We would be happy to replace the modules if you want to try that, but I would suspect some other problem based on what you have posted. crdigits
well ima try and get ahold of a bigger power supply...like a 500watt or something...but ill keep it in mind...casue i doubt its the ram and no sense in returing something that works fine right
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 24, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 24, 2005 No problem, but please let me know as I said I have no problem replacing them if needed.
crdigits
ok the biggest power supply i have in the house is a 400 watt...would that be sufficient to determine if in fact it is a power supply problem...even if i just connect the mobo hd and one or two other things
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 25, 2005 Yes, that should work, but please reset the bios so it detects the new voltages corectly and load setup defaults and then make the settings as needed for your configuration. crdigits
well before i send it back...if i end up sending it back ima see what i can get on AMD's forums...casue id hate to send something back if it works just fine...though it would be the easiest way to figure out if it is the ram or not but ill post back here when i get any helpful word from AMD....BTW...thanks for all your help thus far...definately alot better then DFI's help...or lack of
