Rollergold
Got a few questions about how I could possibly integrate the Commander Pro for monitoring and fan control for my custom loop. 1. Can I set a fan curve based on input from one of the temp sensors instead of based off of CPU temps? I have access to a stop plug fitting with a built in temp senor and it seems the input connector is the same as temp sensor cables included with the Commander PRO. I'm more concerned about the water temp then the CPU or GPU temps as both the CPU and GPU get basically 360mm worth of Rad and rather the fans on rad's spin up only to keep the water in the loop from getting too hot. The loop has been designed for very quiet operation 2. Is the 6 Fan inputs their own discrete channel or or is speed sensed though 1 of the inputs and applied to the other 5 inputs? I ask as I would like to Monitor my D5 pump's speed though one of the inputs and use 2 or 3 of the other inputs inputs for controlling the fans on my radiators on custom curve and use the rest of the fan inputs to control the speed of my case fans on their own curve. The D5 Pump has a 3pin fan connector with just the tach wire for monitoring of it's speed btw. 3. Can Corsair iCue/Link be setup to alert the user if a speed of a fan connected to the Commander PRO unexpectedly drops to zero? I plan on using such a feature to alert me if my D5 Pump fails so I can shutdown the system before any overheating happens. Yes the D5 has a very good reliability record but I rather be safe then sorry. Could also be handy feature to have as it looks like Corsair might be getting in to the custom loop market with their Hydro X Series teaser on their site.
DevBiker
1. Can I set a fan curve based on input from one of the temp sensors instead of based off of CPU temps? Yes! Absolutely! This is one of the awesome things about the Commander Pro (CoPro); you can base your fan curves off of any of the temperature sensor readings. It comes with 4 but will work with any standard 10K thermistor (which will include your fitting with a temp sensor). 2. Is the 6 Fan inputs their own discrete channel or or is speed sensed though 1 of the inputs and applied to the other 5 inputs? Each fan is independently controllable and has its own fan curve. The pump with the tach connector should work fine as long as you aren't powering it through the CoPro. 3. Can Corsair iCue/Link be setup to alert the user if a speed of a fan connected to the Commander PRO unexpectedly drops to zero? I wanted to say yes ... but alas, that is not the case. Notifications are currently only on the temperatures, not on fan speeds.
solarity
I have a custom loop and made a custom curve that reads the temp of my coolant and adjusts all the fans based off that temperature. It works great. The system runs a lot quieter as the default way on many MBs is to run the fans based of CPU usage. The new way gives me great performance with a lot less noise. I have dual 360mm rads myself.
