Redredred
I have the above Asus m/board and memory combination as recommended on the Asus site and Corsair. Modules are numbered XMS3202v5.1 0503049-3 Popped them into my silky smooth running set up and nothing, Dead to all intents and purposes. I've asked questions on issues before (had 2 previous sticks that went toes up) so Im aware of the settings to get the best out of the board without the need to o/c. I set these settings and nothing doing, wouldnt even boot. Tried mixing and matching slot combo's, increased the voltage as per before, still no joy. Decide to go back to my no name stick of memory that Ive been using for some time now, and even that refused to stay stable for a while. Had to a lot of tinkering and reloading to get tha system running. The only difference that I can see between the new mem and my previous sticks is the version number. Previously they were version 4.1 now 5.1 Any thoughts to get my lovely new mem rocking The system runs: Asus A7N8Xe Del. bios version 1011 Amd XP3200 Barton........which runs at 3000.......refused to go 3200 XP Pro +SP2 Jean tech 450 w psu ATi Radeon DV8500 vid card Any other info you need? Wired
Is it stable with any one stick in the system by itself?
Redredred
Couldnt even get the pc to boot into windows with any combination of 1 or 2 sticks of this v5.1 Popped in my trusty no-namer and with some persuasion it booted ok. Prior to the new mem going in everything purred without a hiccup. The previous v4.1s I had ran well too, but one stick developed a lot of faults that showed on memtest86. They were RMA to supplier. Redredred
So a couple of days down the line and I have had chance to play. I ran memtest86 on both sticks separately and found one to have a lot of errors whilst the other seems ok.......for now. This is the 3rd set of memory sticks Ive had in 5 month that have had errors. All XMS CMX512-3200C2PT. Am I fooling myself ? Ray
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 23, 2005 Ray that might suggest some other problem with your system. Can you test the modules in another system and have they always been in the same system? If they are failing in another system please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! j.doggmassey
Make sure you are not using an AMD processor. Corsair is Intel, Chipset and Processor Specific. Make sure your memory is at the default clock, I've been having these same issues. I'm going to try exactly as i suggested, I got the information form a Microsoft Forum earlier today. The information makes sense to me, I have Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz 6GB 3x2gb. I overclocked the memory to 1600Mhz from 1066Mhz. It made sense to me to overclock it because the package said 1600Mhz. Go figure, I was wrong. I also have a AMD processor and I am having trouble with the voltage settings. Its kinda like trying to put chevy parts on a honda, it doesn't work. So i need to get a new motherboard and processor most likely. Peace hope this helps.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 8, 2011 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 8, 2011 j.doggmassey I am sorry but I think the information you got on that other forum was miss leading you. And any of the modules will work on either platform. The difference between modules made for Intel and AMD are the EPP (AMD) or XMP (Intel) Profile that is in the modules SPD. Also the OP has DDR1 not DDR3 so that information you had was about something else all together and has no bearing on what he is doing or trying to do.
